The courts have told the NCAA that amateurism based eligibility rules in college athletics and the unequal treatment of the 2022 class both violate antitrust laws.
LSU said we are going to ride with the rest of yall up until the point a court tells us the SEC policy is also illegal.
A court said it’s illegal and LSU still found a way to align with the SEC while not directly defying a court order - up until filling out the roster yesterday.
Incredible job by the leadership at LSU.

You are writing a very narrow definition of who is and isn’t a pro to specifically exclude the players who were interested in going to LSU, but not the rest of the players looking to transition from NFL camps back to college.
That looks less like a neutral eligibility rule and more like coordinated, exclusionary conduct that raises serious antitrust concerns.

Sankey said under oath that a player loses college eligibility when he chooses to move on. He defined choice as declaring for the draft or signing a professional contract. Tuihalamaka did neither.

This has all happened in a week and a half.
The LA justice system didn’t rule any differently than courts across America have ruled.

That sounds like the utmost institutional control to me.
So much so that the vacuum is taking control over LSU/Ausberry away from the SEC.
They’ll have to do something when Judge Jorden jails Sankey for defying a court order.

I think they did that to win the necessary swing votes to maintain membership on Thursday.

Most rational schools agree with that. Most don’t want to start a conversation about who all contacted NFL camp guys this offseason.

That’ll be impossible to argue since the players sued the NCAA and won. So the SEC responded by releasing its new policy and not until then did the players add the SEC to the suit.
It’ll also be difficult to argue Kiffin organized a lawsuit of 30+ athletes with only 2 that had intentions of joining Kiffin’s team and 1 with intentions of going to another SEC school. Much less the 300+ other athletes in suits across multiple states.
But at the end of the day, none of that matters. If 11 vote to expel, then that is their choice.
