Is OM the only school to have multiple FB HCs leave directly for another SEC team?

Tuberville to Auburn
Kiffin to LSU

Cutcliffe probably ditches them for UT if he had been able to hang on longer. Hugh was positioning himself for a bigger job too before it all fell apart too.

Why can’t OM hang onto good coaches?

ETA I’m talking voluntary resignations

We haven’t had one since Bear answered Mama’s call 70 years ago.

Then again, it helps to have a coach nobody wants.

Alabama does if you count A&M. Bill Curry left for Kentucky and Fran left for A&M, but they weren't SEC yet so that probably doesn't count

Tuberville to Auburn
His pine box comment is what hurt but objectively it was understandable. We were coming off penalties that were just south of the death penalty and we still had dipshits bringing confederate flags to games which killed recruiting. Plus Auburn almost doubled his pay. Tubs would have been stupid to turn that down

Kiffin to LSU
Combination of Kiffin just wanting one of the biggest perceived jobs in America and more guaranteed NIL money.

Even if we had matched LSU’s NIL guarantees (we were guaranteeing over $30 million allegedly) I still think he goes because he had Saban, Layla, Pete Carrol and Orgeron pushing him towards there

Tell me about why Lou Holtz was fired for winning 73.5% of the ball games he coached in while at Arkansas?

Nutt to Ole Miss is the only one

They have had a couple other coaches leave for other jobs, though.

Holtz to Notre Dame
Hatfield to Clemson

I disagree. I think Hugh firmly wanted to be at Ole Miss and be the next Johnny Vaught

We have faced off against 5 of our last 7 head coaches. 6 of our last 10.

This is true. He turned down Florida.

We have a pretty unceremonious history but with only coach since 1957 that left to take a job elsewhere

Tom Herman: Fired -> Florida Atlantic
Charlie Strong: Fired -> South Florida
Mack Brown: "Resigned" -> North Carolina
John Mackovic: Fired -> Arizona
David McWilliams: Resigned
Fred Akers: Left -> Purdue
Darrell Royal: Retired

Of course Fred Akers arrival at Purdue promptly caused Jeff George to transfer

Solid troll 8/10

Ole Miss is like a starter house or gf .... a true winner is always looking to jump ship and upgrade.

Football head coaches who moved from one SEC program to another

Bear Bryant: Kentucky to Texas A&M
Bear Bryant: Texas A&M to Alabama
Doug Dickey: Tennessee to Florida
Bill Curry: Alabama to Kentucky
Dennis Francione: Alabama to Texas A&M
Lane Kiffin: Ole Miss to LSU
Dan Mullen: Mississippi State to Florida
Tommy Turberville: Ole Miss to Auburn

They all went straight from one school to the other. These had a year or more in between stops.

Lane Kiffin: Tennessee to Ole Miss
Steve Spurrier: Florida to South Carolina
Nick Saban: LSU to Alabama
Houston Nutt: Arkansas to Ole Miss
Will Muschamp: Florida to South Carolina
Hugh Freeze: Ole Miss to Auburn

There were a few more pre-WWII. And I may be missing some.
