He’s a coach as much as he is a dog owner

I'm not trashing Ole Miss, I'm just saying what you're saying doesn't add up to an outsider.
While I can’t speak for Kiffin, but if money was all he cared about then on paper he had no reason to leave.
But, LSU is a bigger school and naturally easier to recruit to, as was Florida. He had no ties to Oxford so no personal reason to say once his parents died, which was the largest reason why he didn’t go to Auburn.
Yes other schools like Bama, LSU, probably have more money, but we have plenty of our own and so far have been able to meet the demand of the player market. We’re paying 10 million dollars for our backfield. Thats 1/5 of LSU’s vaunted 50 million dollar roster. So cash flow is there, we’ve just got to keep working at shedding the old poor Mississippi perceptions and do so without the NCAA blowing us up.

We hit about a 25 year black hole after going w the Kinard family after Vaught retired over Vaught’s choice for replacement, and it really wasn’t until Khayat became chancellor in the late 90s that we started seriously fundraising. Of course by then we were decades behind.

Bc the market for players pre-2021 was nowhere near the cost of facilities. Case in point, we were busted and state skated for each of us offering Leo Lewis 10 grand. That’s it! Multiply that over a roster, a bag here, a bag there, and you’re looking at maybe 500 grand, w the Cam Newton types getting 180.
That all changed, and former poors were all the sudden in the game for a relatively small amount of money. Of course that’s now ballooned in short order to what it is and I imagine it’ll collapse on itself in the next 5 years.

Does this include challenges in court? Could make a difference…

Then people started using the courts to circumvent the NCAA's rules, which began the steady erosion of authority. With no rules, no authority, you get this current product.
Which is why teams like Ole Miss went all in on NIL and such bc we could finally pay like all the blue bloods.

Missed that by 40 + years, but guess that’s what happens when you can’t count by 5s any more

Exactly, eventually the markets will sort this out and rates will become more reasonable, or you get more and more advertising and true NIL over the collective variety.

Then if LSU goes along as head instigator they get the death penalty for leading an insurrection.

The players can still play, but as of right now it looks like G5 or bust.

The ruling only applied to the NCAA and to the SEC in so far as players being eligible, it did not however enjoin the SEC with respect to its own bylaws but only as so far as their participation in the NCAA.

Except the former Rebel players aren’t not eligible to play in the SEC except for at Ole Miss.

They’re eligible, but the two from Ole Miss are not eligible to play anywhere within the conference.

That was 60 lbs and a foot surgery ago. There’s a reason he only lasted one week at the Saints camp.

Far as conference ranking we’re 8th, right behind, let me see here…Georgia. Who’s 0.015 points ahead presently.
