Also thought Dan Mullen would be way more successful than he was, though he didn’t exactly crash and burn.
I'd say losing 7 of your last 10 games and the only three wins were against teams with a losing record while having record breaking worst defense in UF history is crashing and burning.

Every HC at tu since Mack Brown.
Every time they are looking for a head coach, apparently every big name in football considering the job (Saban, Gruden) but they settle for an “up and coming” coordinator.
5-7, rinse, repeat.

And when Mullen was asked if he was going to pursue Joe Burrow, Mullen said nah, I'm happy with our qb room.
oops

I would’ve sworn that Will Muschamp was who Kirby turned out to be

Had Mullen stayed for 2018 rather than Moorehead coming in, he’d have had a top 3 defense in cfb the following year, with a well seasoned Fitzgerald. If he’d have used him, and the rb’s to their potential, there’s 2 more wins. 10 win team playing in a New Years bowl. Guy blew it. That works at State but not elsewhere.

Yep - and in the mediocee ACC at a place with a solid program in place and access to athletes in DC/Tidewater, too.
Just never seemed to click.

I also thought Chad Morris would do well at Arkansas.
Not sure how actual Arkansas fans thought it would go. Just my outside perspective, I thought he would do well.
The guy who surprised me was Bert. I really believed he was the perfect fit for Arky, and that he would get their program back to where it was in the Petrino days, but with an emphasis on stout defense and a balanced offense.
It actually looked like he was headed in the right direction after that late season turnaround in 2014 when they shut out LSU and Ole Freezus on consecutive Saturdays, then managed 8 wins the next year.
Sadly, Gustav and 56-3 broke the poor bastard.

I agree, I thought this was going to be a home run hire that would have Ark competing for SEC Championships.

I am going to predict future failure and one will be Brian Kelly will fail to win a championship at LSU!

Bill Curry did not come here as advertised.

Bert got a little unlucky that year. He lost the second game of the year to a Toledo team that finished 10-2 led by Kareem Hunt. Then the third game we got scorched by Texas tech and an unknown QB named Patric mahomes.
If Bert wins 10 games that year instead of 8 He might still be here. Maybe the drunken downward spiral doesn’t happen.

Yep. Good recruiter but he couldn't find an offense to save his life.

Not sure about "crushing it", but I honestly thought Joker Phillips would continue what we had going under Rich Brooks, and he was legit terrible from day one.

Saban at LSU. I mean it took less time for both Miles and Orgeron to win titles at LSU.
So, you are glad he left?

People seriously underestimate the job Beamer did there. The in-state athletes are not close to Blacksburg.

Mullen was 10-37 against ranked teams at State and Florida.
He won every game he was supposed to win and lost just about every game they weren’t favored in.
