re: GM is issuing a massive stop-sale over 6.2L V8 engine issues

I’m no engineer, but how is it possible to mess these up this bad? Don’t they test etc before releasing a new engine?
Why would anyone buy a car from a company that can’t even make an engine right?

Man I can’t help you if you think other countries reducing tariffs on US made goods will somehow not increase domestic manufacturing in the US.
re: How many people understand what happened yesterday with Trump's 90 day pause on tariffs?

Doesn’t matter, there are some people who will defend anything Trump does, and there are others who will never ever believe anything good he does is on purpose. They simply cannot accept that Trump has some economic sense and has a strategy. If someone on TV says orange man bad, they agree.

If other countries had tariffs on US goods, but going forward they won’t because of these new negotiations, will that increase or decrease demand for US manufactured goods?
This isn’t hard.

Tariffs and restrictive trade measures have been proven to hurt more than they help. That is why we have the largest economy in the world without them, and countries that use them have inferior economies to ours.
So then you agree that using them as leverage to get other countries to remove theirs will help everyone? And America will be better off in the long run when we have new trade deals that enhance free trade instead of making it one sided like it’s been for decades?

Everyone wants to call Trump whatever name they want, but now the entire window has been shifted and everyone is relatively ok with massive pressure on China to equal the playing field.
Before this, the “free trade at all costs crowd” would’ve cried a river if anyone dared to question even the slightest bit of pressure on China to stop unfair trade practices that have hurt the US economy.

Very smart people outside of politics have discussed the implications of trade imbalances for much longer than this current political cycle.

It’s actually worse than that, they have more money than anyone but nobody wants to coach there.

I’ll bite, the polar opposite is true too. There are plenty of people who have cheered as entire industries have left the country, decimating small town economies and forcing tons of people on government assistance all in the name of free trade, marginally cheaper widgets, and a better stock price. The same people who complain about government entitlement spending shooting through the roof have nothing to say when these industries offshore to help their stock price. They don’t see any connection at all.
Not saying this tariff plan will solve the problem, but the free trade at all costs crowd loves to act like they are innocent bystanders to the economic shifts that have gotten us here.

Ole Miss is Johnny Neumann.
Following a standout career at Overton High School in Memphis, Neumann took his game to the University of Mississippi, where he played from 1969 to 1971. During his sophomore season, he drew comparisons to Pete Maravich, after averaging an NCAA-high of 40.1 points per game.[1] His strongest performances included a 63-point game against Louisiana State University and a 60-point game against Baylor University.[2] Neumann earned All-America and SEC Player of the Year honors at the end of the season.
