Epstein's Accountant is Fifth Witness to Say Trump was not Involved
quote:
"In the years that I provided outside accounting and bookkeeping services for Jeffrey Epstein, I was not aware of the terrible and unforgivable things that he did to women and girls," Khan said in his opening statement to the committee.
In his opening statement, Kahn told the committee that he was aware of Epstein's 2006 arrest for soliciting a minor, but said Epstein had told him it "was a mistake" and "that he did not know the woman was underage, and that nothing like that would happen again."
"I believed him at the time and never saw what appeared to be a minor in his presence," the statement said.

Not going to say that the SEC was ever irrelevant... but those early SEC team championships are a bit suspect.
Vandy in 1906 lost a game. Auburn in 1910 lost a game. Ga Tech in 1916 tied a game. LSU in 1908, A&M in 1919 and Bama in 1925 were all undefeated.
HOWEVER
During that era...
TEXAS Went undefeated in 1914, 1918, and had just a tie in 1920 and 1923.
They had one loss teams in 1912, and 1913.
OKLAHOMA was undefeated in 1911, 1915, 1918 and in 1920 had one tie.
Nebraska was also undefeated in 1915 and a lot of Husker fans claim a title for that year.
So it is evident that this teams peformed just as well as your SEC teams did during that period... they just weren't awarded championships despite having these great teams.
If you look at period from 1950 to 2005... you can take the Big 8/12 and add Texas (as a 9th team)
The Big 8 and Texas had fifteen National Championships compared to the SEC's twelve.
That immediately changed in 2006 to the present... but for that 45 years... there were other conferences that were equal to the SEC.,..
The Big 8 might have been the best conference in the country (at the top) in the early 1970s. In 1971 the Big 8 finished 1,2,3 in the country and obliterated the top two SEC team in bowl games during the process.
Great point. I would also point out that in the 1930s, the National Champion was picked before the bowl games. So, the 1939 Texas A&M team was picked over a Tennessee team that was the last college football team to complete a regular season without giving up a single point.

The same two that picked Oregon in 2024 picked Utah in 2008.

Well Oklahoma has 50 conference championships and that was playing Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, and A&M back when the SEC was irrelevant.
Thank you for bringing that up. You are right...some of these programs have no historical relevance. Let's look at football national championships claimed from back when these other schools were irrelevant:
Here are current FBS programs and their first recognized football national championship (not consensus...but recognized by a national selection organization, per Wikipedia):
Rutgers - 1869
Michigan - 1901
Vanderbilt - 1906
LSU - 1908
Auburn - 1910
Pitt -1910
Minnesota - 1911
Penn State - 1911
Wisconsin - 1912
Army - 1916
Georgia Tech - 1916
Illinois - 1919
Texas A&M - 1919
Cal - 1920
Georgia - 1920
Notre Dame - 1920
Iowa - 1921
Alabama - 1925
Navy - 1926
Stanford - 1926
USC - 1928
Purdue - 1931
Ohio State - 1933
SMU - 1935
TCU - 1935
Duke - 1936
Tennessee - 1938
Texas - 1941
Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) - 1945
Oklahoma - 1949
Kentucky - 1950
Michigan State - 1951
Maryland - 1951
UCLA - 1954
Ole Miss - 1959
Syracuse - 1959
Missouri - 1960
Washington - 1960
Arizona State - 1970
Nebraska - 1970
Arkansas - 1970
Florida State - 1980
Clemson - 1981
Miami - 1983
Florida - 1984
Colorado - 1990
Utah - 2008
UCF - 2017
Oregon - 2024
Indiana - 2025
So...pre-1933 the SEC could be considered "irrelevant" because members were in the Southern Conference. However 6 of the original members won football national championships before the SEC was founded.
For the teams mentioned in your post:
Texas A&M - won their first championship after 4 founding SEC member schools had already won at least one.
Both Texas and Oklahoma - won their first championship after 7 founding SEC member schools had already won at least one.
Nebraska - won their first championship after 9 founding SEC member schools had already won at least one.
Colorado - won their first championship after 10 founding SEC member schools had already won at least one.
When exactly was this timeline of "back when the SEC was irrelevant"?

Got an opportunity a couple of weeks ago to see the Eagles at the Sphere. It was an 11 out of 10. Awesome venue.
2-years ago, I caught U2 there in their final show. There aren't a lot of bands that have enough of a presence to match the venue...but the Eagles are definitely one of those bands that would be on that list. I'm surprised it was only an 11 out of 10. :dude:

Freshman and Sophomore years of HS, I got a job selling cokes at Neyland Stadium for Tennessee Football games. Junior year I delivered pizzas.

Cooper Witten is going to be the star of this class.
Before his dad became a star TE at Tennessee and an NFL 11x pro-bowler (and the all-time receiving leader for the Dallas Cowboys), he was a defensive star. Recruited as a Defensive End, there was a battle between John Chavis and Randy Sanders for whether Jason Witten would be a TE or DE. Sanders won because Chavis had more depth at the position. How many 220 pound linebackers run the 100-M in 10.91? I'm telling you...Cooper Witten is going to be a game-changer for OU on defense before it's all said and done.
