It you're looking for a team to back in the playoffs this year...

Great point...Ole Miss is the home of 2nd chances for kids who left from places that weren't a good fit.

Auburn: 12 undefeated seasons, 7 perfect (no ties) seasons.

Can't believe I jumped over them...will correct it, now.

2) 1913 - 8-0-0
3) 1914 - 8-0-1
4) 1932 - 9-0-1
5) 1957 - 10-0-0
6) 1958 - 9-0-1
7) 1993 - 11-0-0
8) 2004 - 13-0-0

For those of you who need a brief primer: House of David tells the story of King David - the third (and greatest) king of Israel after Saul and his son, Ish-bosheth - as chronicled in 1st and 2nd Samuel in the Old Testament of the Bible. The acting is solid, the writing is good, and the drama is compelling.

Too many historical inaccuracies in it for me. He is described in 1 Samuel as "admoniy" which is Hebrew for Ruddy/Reddish. Some say that he actually may have had reddish hair...(red hair was rare, but was present in the region at the time). Still, that's up to interpretation.

There is nothing biblical indicating that David's mother was killed by a lion, or David being illegitimate. (made up)

Doeg, the alchemist being completely made up (biblically, he was simply "the keeper of Saul's herds).

A "forbidden romance" between David and Michal (made up).

Eshbaal's timeline for ascending to the throne (doesn't match biblical timeline).

Saul's army on horseback...biblically, Solomon was the first monarch to own horses, and they were solely used to pull chariots. It was around 200 years after Saul's reign before there were any soldiers on horseback.

The Chosen did use some poetic licensing to fill gaps within the biblical story...but The House of David centers some complete story lines around non-biblical plots.

Tennessee - Willie Martinez to decide that 62 is a good age to retire from coaching.

Eh he gets a little too much shite. Already got my Christmas wish with Banks being fired.

Maybe so. Looking at Pass Defense Rankings for Tennessee with Martinez coaching the secondary (passing yards allowed per game).

2025 - 88th
2024 - 27th
2023 - 45th
2022 - 128th
2021 - 124th

In his best season here, we only finished 10 spots behind Kentucky's defense.

How about Opponent Completion % per game?

2025 - 123rd
2024 - 40th
2023 - 109th
2022 - 99th
2021 - 84th

How about Opponent Passing 1st downs per game?

2025 - 124th
2024 - 33rd
2023 - 52nd
2022 - 130th
2021 - 126th

I'm just not a fan of the approach we've had with our secondary over the last 5 seasons...and the numbers seem to back that up.
Resurrecting this thread after having this same discussion with my co-workers this morning. Of course the list included:

Gladiator
Die Hard
The Shawshank Redemption
Goodwill Hunting

But some others that came up today...

The Blindside (imagine Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher blasting Muppets)
No Country for Old Men (Tommy Lee Jones with Muppets)
The Truman Show

but my favorites...

Rocky
Slingblade
Tennessee - Willie Martinez to decide that 62 is a good age to retire from coaching.
I don't care what people say...

IS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE!

For once, I agree with a Vol. Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri all get pretty decent winters. Hell, it was 4*F here in Lexington on Monday.

Some November's when teams come to Lexington it's mild, some times it's balls cold. It is what it is.

The coldest game I've ever been to was Tennessee vs Kentucky in late November, 1981. The high was 30 degrees and the low was 29 (and the wind was crazy), and it had rained the day before. The stadium was an ice block and I saw a woman slip and go down 15 or so steps on her butt before she stopped.

When they played there in '87, the low was 18. It was plenty cold in November in Lexington, many times that I've been there for games.

Ohio State--103,000+. Record is 110,000 against Michigan.

They shrank the capacity of Ohio Stadium in late 2017. The opener vs Texas was the largest crowd they've had in quite a while, with over 107,000. I can't see where they've exceeded 108,000 since 2017.

quote:

Texas A & M--103,000+.

There were over 110,000 at Kyle Field when they played Ole Miss in 2014, but after the 2015 season the total capacity dropped by nearly 4,000. Still, they had just under 110,000 vs Auburn in 2021 and vs Texas in 2024. They have exceeded 108,000 7 times since the 2015 seating reduction.

quote:

Alabama--102,000.

Per Wikipedia, Bryant-Denny Stadium reduced capacity in 2020 from just under 102k to just over 100k. But other sites still list the official capacity at 101,821.
