I was in the check-out line at Wal-Mart in Oxford, MS. The guy ahead of me was David Cutcliffe

Same but it was Derek Mason and a tiny grocery store. The clerk recognized him and was talking him up a bit (very nice). Mason was polite (as was the clerk) but I could tell he just wanted to get his couple things and head out. Made me never want to be famous seeing the Vandy coach tired of public recognition.

He was a good bit smaller than I would have thought. But I imagine he's tough as nails.

Saw Pat Dye looking at country music cassette tapes at musicland in Eastdale Mall in Montgomery around 1991-1992. Very nice man and I’m glad I met him.

Seen Spurrier on a golf course. Looked like Satan with a hangover.

Seen plenty of high profile B-Ball coaches on the same course. Saw Saban at the airport years ago. Seen Donnan and Richt.

April 2015 my wife and I were in Vegas having dinner at Cut in the Palazzo.

There was a private room full of people off to my right that I could see just a few people. Didn't pay much attention figuring it was some business group or something.

We're at a table along the wall and per usual my wife has the seat looking out at the room and me at the wall. The private room empties out and they all have to file behind me to get out of the restaurant. I'm still not paying much attention, then the line pauses and there are people standing right behind me. I take a quick glance up over my right shoulder and the words just casually spill out of my mouth without thinking: "Hey coach, how you doing?" Like I see him every day.

It was Mike Kryzewski

He gives me a hearty pat on the shoulder and says "Fine, thanks for asking!"

My wife says "Congratulations Coach!" And then I remember, Duke did just win the National Championship.

He says "Thanks!" The line starts moving again and he's gone.

Played through Tommy Tuberville's slow group at Saugahatchee CC once.

Actually sat down with and had a couple of conversations with Gene Chizik at one of his chicken restaurants in Opelika.

Met Pat Summit and her family by chance in Rosemary Beach in 2010. She was very down to earth and had a hilarious dry sense of humor.

I said hello to Pat Dye at a Wintzells in orange beach. I wonder if his food was as terrible as mine

When I was a student at LSU, I would always park near the stadium. One day when I was walking to class by the Athletic Administration building, a lincoln town car (I believe) pulls in, and out walks Nick Saban. He walked right by me, and as he did so, he looked up, and said, "Hey, what's up man."

Not at any event: Lane Kiffin just walking when I lived in Tuscaloosa. Saban at my high school with his daughter (back in the Dolphins days). Urban at my high school, he walked into our english class because the D-Line coach taught English. He was just talking to us all for like 30 mins. Marino and Bernie Kosars daughters were around my time/sisters time as well, so a lot of Dolphins guys/UM guys were always around. Michael Irvin's kid was after my time but he was there a good bit too.

Ran into Coach O with his now ex Wife randomly taking my sister out to eat for graduation. They were both very nice. Ran into Bill Snyder on the beach years ago in probably the mid 90s just chilling on a beach chair next to our setup.

Will Wade was at the table next to mine on Christmas Eve at Sullivan's in Baton Rouge a few years ago. I also would see Les in public at various places around town in his heyday.

Forgot to say also my friend played golf with Gary Patterson in Florida and he was drunk on the course the entire time.

I saw Dan Mullen at the BWW off highway 12 back around when it first opened.

He ate his wings with a fork and knife.

Held the door at the theater for Shula and his fine arse wife. Don't remember the movie.

Bill O'brien was at the bar the other night at Baumhower's.

Saban and Mrs. Terry (with an Armed security guard) coming out of Chuck's fish downtown. I wasn't inclined to speak. But my wife said something to her and she waved.

Stallings at a restaurant in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl(the one where Bama gets their arse kicked by Utah). Did speak to him and thank him. He was very gracious.

Just saw Mark Richt at the airport in Vail Co last week. Not sure if he’s prominent.

When I was going to Auburn I saw Brian VanGorder at the gym I went to once. Not sure how prominent we consider him to be, but that's all I've got.

Saw Gus at the AU Student center once, but not really going to count college coaches on campus.

on a work trip to Ponte Vedra my manager lined up a round of golf for me with his father at Saltgrass CC. I showed up and the dad said he couldn't play but he paired me with another member named Dave Campo. Chatted the entire round about everything other than football and afterwards exchanged cards.

When the Jags came to Houston that season we tried to arrange a dinner with him and Mike Shula (I'm a Bama grad) but me and my fam had already left town for a vacation. Kept in touch off and on until he left the Jags and we lost touch.
