No. 21 Florida picked up one of the biggest wins of the weekend Saturday with a 52-28 victory over No. 4 Ole Miss in Gainesville.
The Gators improved to 4-0 on the season and handed the Rebels their first loss after pulling away in the second half at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Florida scored touchdowns on each of its first five possessions after halftime.
Florida took a 17-6 lead into halftime behind two rushing touchdowns from Jadan Baugh and a 49-yard field goal from Paul Durkin.
Ole Miss quickly made things interesting after the break. Trinidad Chambliss scored on an eight-yard run and converted the ensuing two-point attempt to cut Florida's lead to 17-14.
But the Gators answered immediately when Duke Clark broke loose for a 45-yard touchdown run.
Chambliss later scored his second rushing touchdown to make it 24-21, but Florida responded again with an Aaron Philo touchdown run and never surrendered the lead.
The Gators put the game away with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including scores from Dallas Wilson, Aidan Jackson and Baugh.
Baugh finished with 142 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries, while Clark added 126 yards and a touchdown on just 12 attempts. Florida piled up 497 total yards, including 301 yards on the ground.
Philo completed 16-of-23 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown while also adding a rushing score.
Chambliss finished 25-of-34 passing for 298 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 44 yards and two scores.
Deuce Alexander led the Rebels with seven catches for 134 yards and a touchdown.
Ole Miss finished with 426 total yards but committed two turnovers, while Florida played turnover-free football.
The win gives Florida its first victory over a top-five opponent under head coach Jon Sumrall and moves the Gators to 4-0 on the season.
