Chase is a great, physical deep threat, but Smith's skillset is much better suited for consistent production; he's more versatile and can play any WR position and be used in run game formats (ie jet sweeps)

Could this be why you work at the local car lot and not as the GM of a NFL team?

I think both are good and will serve any team well, regardless of where they go.

It's also interesting to me to think about where Waddle would be in this conversation, had he not gotten injured.

The WR talent across the SEC this year was unreal.

Chase has more yards per catch, TDs per catch, yards per season, and catches per season than Smith.

Smith is an amazing player but Chase is the better WR.

And Chase did it while splitting catches with Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall.

Smith’s numbers boomed after Waddles injury and he was THE guy

Wherever he goes, Smith is going to be a total asset. He even seems like exactly the kind of kid you want on the practice field and in the locker room. Really like that kid.

I did. those tap passes and screens are not nearly as effective in the NFL than they would be at Alabama.

You haven't watched the NFL lately.

I really like Smith and think he's only being held back by his size in the minds if the GM's.

I would take Chase over Smith but Devonta led Alabama in TD and receiving yards, while Ruggs and Jeudy were there.

Name one skill he has that is "much better suited for the NFL game" than Ja'marr

Not quitting.

Look, the NFL is enamored with Smitty's weight. Is 4-10 lbs going to make that much difference? I doubt it.

Either way I don't care. I hope he goes to a team that values leadership, character, good film, and not quitting.

Those certainties are why the NFL GM's are getting paid the big bucks and you're sitting here crying about it.

They are both great players.

That jet sweep was not a rushing play. Do you not football?

How many wr’s the size of Smith have excelled in the nfl.

Of course that doesn’t mean Smith won’t have a hell of a career but his size is going to work against him especially from a durability standpoint. He might have a better start to his career but I don’t see him holding up as long.

The fact of the matter is, no NFL evaluators consider a player opting out in a Covid year "quitting." They are trying to find the players who will help their teams win games. In the latest mock draft I read, about half of the top 20 picks were guys who did not play an entire season in 2020.

Smitty earned a top 10 pick, and with his size that’s all he could ask for. It sucks, and it’s unfair, but if he proves himself again in the pros, then he will get what he deserves.

Chase on the other hand will be on a short leash. If he bust after skipping out on the season, he will get roasted.

Most of y'all dont seem to understand that the NFL doesn't give a shite about a player skipping college games.

Not saying it's the end all be all, but Chase is 40 pounds heavier than smith and is just as fast.
