I was really hoping for more detail on why they see the Dems, see the alternatives, and still vote Dem.

Nothing you wrote tells me they’re good people. You had a nice dinner with some folks who were agreeable in the moment. If your friendly nod to a righty is “hey man, I know we’ve gone a little far with the tranny thing” then you’re probably a terrible person.
