Good luck going in to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi etc and convincing kids to commit to your school (you know… the states your games will be played in away from home and where your theoretical footprint should be)

We already recruit in those states and have for years.

I blame the 7on7 type approach that high schools in Texas seem to run…not physical, run and gun…

Let's take a look @ last years Texas HS recruits:

6 of the top 30 DL
5 of the top 30 DE
7 of the top 30 CB
7 of the top 30 S

Does not include TX kids that enrolled @ IMG.

Talent is elite if not the best, the problem is where they land. Let's see how things start to look in the new NIL world.

With NIL, USC and Texas are very well positioned to be powers in the sport.

OU could be in for an extended drop down, but it won't have any relation to Nebraska issues or because SECSECSEC. In the long term OU will still be OU, but in the short term it could be an unsettling down turn.

How about Venables?

Texas and OU are going to find out that life in the SEC is a different animal, much like Penn State & Nebraska found out that life in the Big 10 was a different animal.

You people flapped your dick eaters at Mizzou and aggot saying the same things "weclomez to teh Big Boy football!" to them before they joined, only for aggot to run through your league like shite through a goose their first season including kicking over Bama's sand-castle, and Mizzou to win the East and make it to the CCG in their 2nd and 3rd seasons, back-to-back. Thank a Gator and a Tiger for not letting aggot run-rule your league in their first season.

And thank your local War Eagle or Bama fan for not letting those pesky Mizzou Tiggers win back-to-back CCGs in their 2nd and 3rd seasons.

Nobody forgot about any of that, except you of course.

None of you know what's gonna happen. You're just talking out of your asses again.

I think he may be alluding to NIL. That's what I meant to say earlier, but instead said facilities in error. There is chatter that our admin is dragging their feet with NIL and it might take a few arse whippings for them to get right in the head. This chatter, due to the loss Turnipseed. But you are right, nobody knows what might happen.

Don't shoot the messenger(s).

Their biggest weakness vs the market elites just became their biggest asset. That asset also has the ability to widen the gap as things develop. We haven't even seen the beast that theses collaboratives will become.
I predict NIL will become less of a factor after it hits its peak here in the next couple years.

That’s definitely true in general, but they were pretty mediocre for about 10 years in between Switzer and Stoops.

over 27 seasons - 14 Big12 football titles for OU to 3 for Texas tells me Oklahoma is the safer buy -

I have zero faith that Venables will be able to put an offense on the field that Sarkesian will -

Texas is in a better situation than Oklahoma to have success over the next 5 seasons with current HCs - buy Texas all things constant -

I believe OU's pedigree is far more accomplished and cultivated to have success in the SEC - with the right HC -

Hmmm, another 'OU and Texas aren't ready for the SEC' thread. Very original! Y'all better hope you are right, if OU and Texas come in and contend there's going to be a lot of crow to eat.

You can't buy a winning college football team. Too many moving parts. Too many egos - 85, not counting walk ons.

Granted, you can't play winning football without large sums of money. But as A&M has shown, you can't buy winning football with nothing more than a large block of money either.

I'll buy Oklahoma - because they have the required money, but also a culture in place that will produce the necessary hunger to win in stretches. I'll sell Texas - because they actually have, and spend, too much money.

And that's the irony that's going to run counter to the Austin mentality. The idea that you can get more by spending less. Not going to fly for the Austinites.

And yes, playing eight - soon to be nine games - is a different animal. There's no room to play off emotion with that many games. That is going to bite Texas right in the arse.

If the amount of money a school has to buy recruits predicts the future of college football:

Texas - BUY
Oklahoma - sell

Since when is Texas the best state in the best conference? I think Texas and Ok are coming in a bit overconfident. For example, looking down on Mississippi schools because they are in a poor state like Mississippi. Wait until you have to play them the week after playing Alabama or LSU. These "average" schools tend to pop up and bite you in the arse when you're not expecting it. This will apply even more if the SEC goes to a 9 game schedule. I suspect that both Texas and OU will have to learn this lesson the hard way at first.

Where are those numbers in the pros? Why don’t we see tons of defensive players drafted from these Big 12 schools?
You make my point for me…they seem to have HS talent but it doesn’t translate at the next level…games get more physical and these recruits fade to mediocrity…

I don't think this is necessarily an unfair statement other than to point out that most of the schools in the Big XII are usually about Mississippi or State's level.

SEC people believe that if Ole Miss or State were to play in the Big XII that they would be top teams. Not sure I buy that. Whether OU and Texas will be "hungover" after a Bama or LSU game is certainly something to consider but I don't think schools like Ole Miss and State will "out talent" Oklahoma and Texas on a routine basis.
