I’m not sure either will have a ton of huge success in the SEC, but if I had to pick 1 it would easily be Texas.

OU is about to be Nebraska

Obviously, over the long run, they’ll both be much better than any of the sec teams outside thebig 6.

Unfortunately, tu football is going to do well with the SEC move. Oklahoma is going to hurt. A lot. Venables was a terrible hire.

Texas has been Nebraska since 2009.

Beyond that, your take on OU is incredibly uneducated. They are extremely different, and most who understand recruiting and OU's recruiting history can see that. OU has been top 5-10 recruiting when NOT in the SEC, and everyone understands that when in the SEC they will receive a recruiting bump. But somehow you think that being in the SEC will hurt their recruiting.. that doesn't seem to track with reality.

It will absolutely hurt their recruiting
Good luck going in to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi etc and convincing kids to commit to your school (you know… the states your games will be played in away from home and where your theoretical footprint should be)
Parents enjoy being present at their kids games
Have you looked at a US map lately?
Might as well be in Mexico or California
You would think NIL would offset this but unfortunately for homa the rest of the schools in this conference spend more than the comp you’re used to

That’s the hire, right?

Buy both. 2024 is going to bring a Republican administration who will get back to drilling. This means the oil $ of those already deep pockets will be overflowing into the NIL at a top 5 SEC level. $ = talent.

Other schools like Ohio State pull good players from Texas.

This makes zero sense. Joining the conference will increase their chances with recruiting the southeast and both schools recruit nationally.

The issues for both schools remain the same... Defense for OU & the right HC for Texas. If OU tanks it will be likely due to Venebles being a bust and the next guy not being a good fit either (see Texas 2010>)

I can see OU dipping a bit early in the SEC and Texas quite frankly has everything to gain, we've been avg for years.

Long term I like Texas' chances. Best talent/depth we've had since Mack's good years and the trenches are a big part of that. NIL had a bigger/more positive effect on Texas than any program in the country and that's the future like it or not. Eventually Texas gets the right guy @ HC.

Heard all this shite before when lil aggot came in and barnstormed your league in their first season with a roster full of mostly 3* BIG XII athletes.

Y'all were the ones saying that. OU and Texas fans were the ones saying we would go winless and that we wouldn't be able to win any games.

And are you really going to overlook the amount of NFL talent Sherman left behind for Kevin Sumlin? Our generational QB embarrassed the hell out of your team in the Cotton Bowl. And y'all were the Big12 Co-champ.

Y'all are fricking delusional.

Y'all really didn't need uncle Kliffy hanging around and finding anymore of those 3* QB kids nobody recruited

If I were a Sooner fan, I'd be really apprehensive right now. When you jump to another conference, a lot of your past history goes out the window with recruits, and they look to see where you fit in with the new group. And unfortunately Lincoln Riley threw a grenade into the program, at the worst possible moment. OU hasn't been this unsettled since before Stoops came in.

Penn State entered the Big 10 while on a high note, and competed well against Michigan and Ohio State. They settled into the top tier. Nebraska was beginning to implode when they jumped in, and now they're locked into mediocrity. They have lost all national cred, and have gone into a death spiral.

I'm glad LSU got Kelly, even though LSU had been established within the SEC already. And I know Kelly may not be the very best, but he's structured, solid and professional- you don't want the Orgeron thing going on when you shuffle the standings.

Texas also better hope they get their act together; they're not coming in as the longtime favorite and owner of the conference. There's a chance they can get relegated to Aggie level, or worse.
