They both may struggle a little at first, but I can’t believe it is will last long. These 2 schools are historically strong and it doesn’t make sense that they would get worse in a better conference.
The money and recruiting should improve their status sooner than later.
Might be proven Wrong , but when I take off my SEC glasses, that’s how I see it.

Historically they have been in a conference with one other powerhouse program, if that, their entire history. 5 charter members of the SEC are historical power houses and Florida has had its moments as has Ole Miss...

OU has a '24 commit from GA, MS, FL & LA & it's only July. Last year 30% of their recruiting class was from SEC states.

Texas isn't far behind those same stats.

The reality is that both Texas and Oklahoma could manage just fine in the SEC if they could just recruit Texas better. The SEC and Ohio State have encroached on Texas. And the west coast teams seem to have always been able to cherry pick the state.

I really feel like both Universities feel that being SEC members will help them compete for the Texas kids that Bama, Georgia and LSU keep poaching.

You have no idea what "southern Mamas" are or are not going to be comfortable with, and you clearly don't know how to spell Austin.

To answer your question, we recruit NATIONALLY (tired of saying this over and over) and have for YEARS. That includes in the South; coast to coast, border to border. Got it? This year is no exception, and neither will any year after that. We have assembled one of the strongest recruiting staffs in the nation. Our recruiting footprint is going to expand and strengthen, not contract. It already is.

OU has always recruited nationally, Texas has dabbled but not much in the SEC footprint until recently.

You have to go national these days to a degree.. certain years classes and positions of weakness etc.

NIL will help slow down the historical raid on TX HS talent. There were always a group of the bluest chips in state that Texas had no real shot at that they have a fighting chance to close today.

Unfortunately tu is going to do well with the SEC move. It’s going to hurt OU a lot.

Based on what we saw in year 1 under this head coach, OC, QB, and DC, OU has a hell of a lot to prove. That was the biggest cluster F of a season we've had in decades. This summer isn't really boding very well either. It appears our administration is gonna play tight*ss and not invest into facilities like we had hoped. Luckily, our recruiting is still looking good.

Don’t know what you’re talking about if you are trying to say because they didn’t pick the 500 million dollar upgrade ? OU fans were already told it was going to be 170 to 180 million dollar football facility upgrade and nothing else has happened so what’s changed ?

I love threads like these basically shows how many fans from other schools actually know what’s going on at other schools …. Venables has already reset the roster top 4 recruiting class that was a great mixed class now we are going to get another top 5 class when it’s all said and done …. Back to back to 5 class with the elite 11 winner going on as starter first year in sec doesn’t mean downfall… your hoping for that so it makes your team attractive but reality is for most of you your teams are gojng down a few spots in pecking order . Texas is recruiting lights out as well and hit the transfer portal and got some elite players . Now Texas hasn’t proven anything yet but it’s going to be a talented team. Last season I have no doubt Bama would have lost it Ewers didn’t get hurt . He’s was dominating Bama. So explain the logic both are downfalls ?

Texas has been Nebraska since 2009

That graphic is amazing. Before last season, this was an easy answer. Recency bias has people claiming Texas but I don't see it happening.

Texas and Oklahoma will be OK in the SEC, they will just have a tougher time competing in the conference, they will adjust and be one of the better teams

Good luck going in to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi etc and convincing kids to commit to your school (you know… the states your games will be played in away
—————————————————————-

You idiot. Do you follow recruiting?! OU is beating Bama and Georgia for some elite recruits now. What will you say when we end up with the best DLine class in the country this year.

think he may be alluding to NIL. That's what I meant to say earlier, but instead said facilities in error. There is chatter that our admin is dragging their feet with NIL and it might take a few arse whippings for them to get right in the head. This chatter, due to the loss Turnipseed. But you are right, nobody knows what might happen.

Don't shoot the messenger(s).

Actually, NIL at OU is going very well. Where do y’all get your info!

a) I'm sure Kirby's absolutely distraught over losing out on a 5'7 WR.
b) "What's better than Norman?"

Nobody on your team could catch this 5’7” receiver. He’s not even our fastest one. Was nice to get the #1 running back in the nation today.

Neither is going to win the SEC any time soon
————————-

Actually, OU will have a decent shite at winning it by 2025 or 2026. You’ll have to know about OU football and recruiting to see where I’m going.

Texas is going to do well I think. OU will be screwed because of Venables.

My projection for conference records in the first 5 seasons (assuming we stick to 8 game sked)

Oklahoma: 19-21
Texas: 23-17

OU could be in for an extended drop down, but it won't have any relation to Nebraska issues or because SECSECSEC. In the long term OU will still be OU, but in the short term it could be an unsettling down turn.

These type of fans are results oriented fans they look at last year but are not true fans ….. they don’t follow recruiting or the circumstances of why they even had a bad year …. Seeing this come from a OU fan
Is concerning .

Sec media days 3 sec coaches said this exact same thing theh are sec ready and will compete highly. No one expects them to win every year but they will be in contention most years .
