They both may struggle a little at first, but I can’t believe it is will last long. These 2 schools are historically strong and it doesn’t make sense that they would get worse in a better conference.
The money and recruiting should improve their status sooner than later.
Might be proven Wrong , but when I take off my SEC glasses, that’s how I see it.

a) I'm sure Kirby's absolutely distraught over losing out on a 5'7 WR.
b) "What's better than Norman?"

Coach V has been by my school and he’s gotten to know me on and off of the field. He’s just a guy who already knows me and a coach I’m excited to play for. …I like his personality, his energy and he is always hyped. Oklahoma is going in the right direction under Coach V.”

The consensus 4* is one of the fastest in the country. He won the 5A Georgia 100M as a freshman and as a sophomore.

Buy Texas sell Jokelahoma.

Interested to see Oklahoma's softball program compete in the SEC however.

???? Texas football fan base is becoming delusional if they think Austin corporate “elites” give a shiiite about Texas football. You really think millions of California liberals moving into Austin and joining the homegrown liberal cesspool will have any benefit for football? Lol. Riiiight.

Baja Oklahoma is in a better position heading into SEC play than Oklahoma...when the announcement was made that wasn't the case but OUs coach caught a case of the heebie jeebies and closed the shop, sold the house, bought a ticket to the west coast and now he gives 'em a stand up routine in LA....

Neither is going to win the SEC any time soon. One or the other may catch lightning in a bottle and win it eventually but there is always going to be 2-3 contenders in the SEC...names and team colors may change but there is always going to be 2-3. Baja Oklahoma ain't likely to crack that tough nut often...

Sarkisian >>> Venables

That's the crux. Ou long term has been and will remain better than UTx.

That said, Venables is unproven. This year will be a good measure to see how he adjusts now that all excuses of the Lincoln Reily/OU divorce are behind them.

I think Sark is the better HC, and UTx is in better position for short term success in comparison to OU with Venables.

Even if Sark is fired this year, OU is tied to Venables for 1-2 more years into SEC play, which may be a sinking weight of mediocrity under his HC direction while either Sark improves or UTx goes all in on the next hot coach.

Oklahoma has spent most its history in conferences with one other program in the top 20 winningest programs in CFB history.

Outside of their stint in the Big 12 and the first 4 years of the SWC Texas has NEVER been in a conference with another team on that list.

Current SEC teams have been in a conference with 5 teams off that list for the entire time they have been in the SEC and all 5 of those teams are charter members of the SEC. The SEC is not the SWC, the Big 12 or the Big 8. Being in a conference with one other major program is drastically different than being in one with 4 other major programs even when you yourself are a major program. It is a different game that Texas and Oklahoma are about to embark on. Texas has the resources but so does ATM and they ain't sniffed a conference title...I ain't sure Oklahoma has the resources to be more than the 5th or 6th team in the SEC any given year.

With consistent success? Serious question, don't know the answer. It looks like 10 total players out of the SEC footprint out of 125 total...no idea about schola

I suspect Oklahoma will "feel" acceptable to Mama's from the SEC...Austen will categorically NOT. With the exception of the first hundred and fifty miles of deep east Texas Texas will not "feel" acceptable to southern Mama's. Its hard enough to send their youngun 60 miles from Atlanta but Austen??? That is a TOUGH sell...the culture is very different. A great example is the fact that the SEC only allows alcohol sells in a small portion of MB during the SEC CG. There is a fricking ice house and dance hall in every town and village in the entire state of Texas....Mamas in Louisiana may be OK with that, Mama's in Hahira, GA are not and never will be...
