GG Bama. Good luck against Indiana.
Play calling by OU is questionable.
A game thread for OU that’s started before the 2nd quarter of the game? Nice!

I lived in oklahoma for 3 MISERABLE years. Every ou fan I ever met was a mouthy POS, you included.

Ron White had a sketch talking about a girl whining that she had screwed every soldier at an Army base, and every one of them was a bad lay. He asked “maybe the problem is you?” Seemed applicable here.

If my grandma had nuts she’d be my grandpa. INT thrown, game lost, enjoy Houston.
Most of the lines I’ve seen have OU favored by 1.5 - 2.5, but either way the oddsmakers think it will be close.

I think we’re blessed to get a home playoff game against Alabama in Norman. That atmosphere is going to be out of this world. Would have been for Notre Dame and Miami as well, but it doesn’t get much better than Alabama. Bring it on!

Imagine having to play Tulane or JMU for your first game; win and it’s boring, lose and people will talk about it forever. It’s like playing Boise State, and we all know how that turned out.
If my formula spit out Penn State at 14 I don’t think I’d post if for the world to see.

How bad does Oklahoma feel having worse odds than a team that just lost its entire offensive coaching staff Trinidad could call plays himself and beat Brent Venables.

Totally agree. Whoever draws OU should prepare and focus on whoever they’re facing in Round 2.
What’s the point of signs when the OC can just call in the play to the QB through the helmet mic? I guess if playing no-huddle it could impact some, but even then audibles would be a big part of the offense.

Seems kind of whiny, and if they weren’t changing their signs week to week anyways that’s just lazy coaching.

More like who cares about Oklahoma, the only 3 SEC wins since they joined the conference....

For someone who doesn’t care about Oklahoma you sure make a lot of posts about them.

Thanks to the SEC, I don't see what you add to that.

Good thing those making the decisions aren’t as myopic as you.

I agree it's a big rivalry in the MW, but may I ask why you need 5 year to make it to the top 1/3? It's the UTx tv's that brought you into this conferences, you bring almost nothing.

You’re kind of dense.

The OP used 12 years of viewership statistics comparing SEC teams with prime time slots on CBS/ABC to a team that played mostly at 11 am on regional Fox broadcasts. Of course our numbers will be lower, hence “give it 5 years” means let’s see how OU’s viewership increases when paying the Alabamas and Georgias of the world on prime time national TV.

Your point of “Texas has more tvs” probably sounded great to you, but to everyone else it’s a blinding flash of the obvious. Yes, Texas with their 32 million people have more tvs than Oklahoma’s 4 million. OU’s viewership extends beyond its borders, and now that they are playing top-tier opponents to a larger audience their numbers will increase. So yes, to the OPs point, joining the SEC will significantly increase OU’s average viewership numbers. To say OU “brings almost nothing” to the table is one of the more idiotic things I’ve heard on this board, and that’s saying something.
Not surprised OU’s numbers were comparatively low; playing Iowa State at 11 am on regional cable doesn’t move the needle much. Check back in 5 years, id expect OU and Texas games to be in the top third of SEC viewership.

Bet against Okie state. Their whole team is has opted out.
Jesus…. this horse isn’t getting any deader no matter how many more times ya’ll beat it.

League office said it should have been a penalty, so it probably should have been. I had no idea and I bet most of the people posting about it had no idea either. The ref standing 3 feet away from Satenga didn’t know either, nor did the replay officials who can call a review if they see an obvious missed call.

There’s nothing saying OU wouldn’t have scored on that drive had a penalty been called so it’s all conjecture. Bottom line is Auburn had the lead in the 4th and they couldn’t keep it. They had the ball for a final drive and took a safety.

In 2006 OU got the worst officiating hose job at Oregon I’ve ever seen. For those unfamiliar, Oregon kicked an on-side kick with 1 minute left and down 6. The ball was touched by an Oregon player before traveling 10 yards, Oregon interfered with our catch, and OU recovered the football - the ball squirted out of the pile during the scrum and our running back had the ball in his hands. The refs awarded the ball to Oregon despite 2 clear penalties on Oregon and completely ignored that we had the damn ball. They followed it up with 2 BS pass interference calls to get Oregon into scoring position and they did just that, winning 34-33. Despite every human being with eyeballs agreeing that was an absolute screw job, OU still should have manned up and stopped Oregon from scoring. 20 years later, the record books still shows Oregon 34 OU 33. Missed calls are part of the game - saying a second quarter missed call affected Auburn’s ability to do anything in the last 5 minutes of the game is silly.

9. Brent Venables - Oklahoma

To be overrated, someone has to rate that coach highly. Considering every preseason publication had Venables on their hot seat list not sure how he’s overrated. If anything, he’s over-performed this year, but still a long way to go and a lot of proving to do. I’m sure he’d appreciate your attention though, if he knew who you were.

Odd to include this year as we’ve played no SEC games yet, but cool. If I was a fan of a program as mediocre historically as Mizzou I’d be a bit salty as well. Carry on.
I don’t remember Mizzou fans being this mouthy when they were cellar dwellers in the Big 12. But now that they’re cellar dwellers in the SEC they’ve got some ego. I guess it just means more.

What’s up with Sooner OL getting hurt

No idea, but it’s been an issue the last couple years. The main reason our offense was horrendous last year was something like 7 of our 10 offensive lineman on the 2 deep had season ending injuries, and our top 6 receivers also didn’t play most of the year. Never seen anything like it.
