The way our football and basketball teams have been playing we’d be in the cellar of any conference. Ask again in a couple years.
Here! Oh wait, thought you said 0-3. I’ll see myself out…

People with that sort of mindset have no business being president. He’s set a dangerous precedent that will be abused going forward.

The 1999 story of Mike Leach leaving a ‘lost’ playbook for Texas to find would fit in well here.

For those not familiar, this was Bob Stoops’ first year at OU, and Mike Leach was his offensive coordinator. Mike Leach had revitalized OU’s offense with a clever twist on the air raid. Knowing that Texas would be looking for any info to help slow OU down, Mike created a fake playbook and ‘lost’ it where Texas coaches would find it. Of course, all the plays were wrong, and if Texas lined their defense up to stop the fake play it would put them totally out of position for the actual play. And that’s exactly what happened, OU jumped out to a 17-0 lead before Texas discovered it was a ruse.

Texas ultimately went on to win the game, but it’s a cool little piece of the history.

Take it as a compliment, Bama fans. If Vandy beat a random team as a 21-point underdog no one would be talking about it. But they slayed a giant, so it gets the publicity.

Reminds me of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl where we lost to Boise State. Never mind that we were playing with a converted WR when we kicked our starting QB off the team, 8 starters opted out of the game and another was suspended. Never mind that we were 7-point favorites and lost by 1 point on the most unlikely set of trick plays on the final drive. Bottom line is we lost to Boise State and it will live forever. No one remembers that they beat Oregon State and Utah by 30 in the regular season. They remember that they slayed the giant.

OU 21
Texas 19

Texas scores on the last drive but fails a 2 point conversion.

If Arnold sees the field it will be due to injury or ineptitude by Hawkins. If Hawkins comes in and turns it over 3 times and the offense is stagnant, I could see it happening. If that’s the case though we’ll be in a mighty big hole and I don’t think Arnold has the stuff to pull us out of it.

You can make one before kickoff. Just be prepared to update it all game. I learned that lesson the hard way last week.

If you had a do-over, would you try and keep Gabriel and let Arnold walk? Assuming that was the situation.

I have nothing but gut intuition, but I doubt Gabriel leaving was a decision of the coaching staff. My guess is Gabriel knows he isn’t a NFL QB, so he checked his options on where he could make a decent chunk of money in his last year of eligibility. I certainly don’t fault him for that. OU wouldn’t have been willing to match it with 5-star Arnold in the wings, so they let him go. In hindsight, there’s no question Gabriel is the better QB right now. I’m not sure how successful he would behind this Oline though, and that might have factored in as well.

That’s a long way of saying, ‘no, I don’t think our coaches regret their decision,’ and ‘I’m not it would have mattered right now anyways.’ Arnold has a long way to go just to get to Gabriel’s level, and he needs the entire offense to step up with him. QB, RB, WR, and Oline have all been underwhelming so far.
Bowl games, spring games and week 1 blowouts…. So much hype, so little substance. Kind of like a Texas preseason Top 5 ranking.

Last year, we had a DT named Reggie Grimes who had 3 sacks and 2 TFL in week 1. You’d think he was the second coming of Reggie White with all the hype. By week 4 he was spending a lot of time riding the pine. I think he’s playing at a D2 school now.

Jealousy is a stinky cologne.
I’ve noticed a lot more dancing and celebrating after scores and big plays all across football. No opinion on it, don’t care if they do or don’t, but there’s clearly a lot more of it going on compared to a few years ago.
LSU in Baton Rouge over Thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully both teams are highly ranked and fighting for a playoff spot.
I’ll agree with you on Mizzou, as a fanbase on the Rant they act like they are on some higher level than OU simply due to their SEC affiliation. It’s like Okie State talking massive trash, it’s weird and unfounded.

A&M is much more preoccupied with hating Texas, and I can get with that. Also, other fan bases are pretty quick to dump on A&M so I get their defensiveness.

Mizzou has accomplished jack squat but act like they are the second coming of Alabama. They’re like mouthy entitled millennials…. so desperate for attention and validation.

The war chant is so fricking annoying. It would be cool if it was only played in certain situations but it’s after every damn play.

Just wait till you get to hear Boomer Sooner 100 times in a game. I think it’s the only song they teach our band.
Looks like a Big 12 game with these defenses.

In The Dark Knight, Alfred tells Bruce Wayne there are men ‘who simply want to see the world burn.” He could have been talking about these two fan bases. They are not a cultural fit anywhere, except with perhaps each other.
Probably LSU, because we have no idea what USC will bring to the table. That QB was lights out in their bowl game, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will be great this year (re: Trevor Knight vs Alabama 2014).

I think ND is overrated, and Georgia should handle Clemson. If I were betting a parlay I’d take the SEC teams to go 3-0.
