10/13 - UGA at LSU
11/3 - BAMA at LSU

Both will have LSU's campus packed and the weather in mid Oct and Nov in La is usually gorgeous. Stay in Nola and drive to BTR for the day. Be prepared to be fed, and fed very well.

There are tons of great options for games this fall, but the combo of LSU and UGA/BAMA in Death Valley combined with a weekend in Nola just can't be beat.

I love A&M games, and can assure you that you would be treated extremely well, but for a neutral fan I would definitely agree. Would highly suggest taking a three day weekend and starting in New Orleans. Probably can't beat the travel convenience/gameday atmosphere/things to do in Nola before the game.

If you do ever decide to make a trip to Kyle Field go to the A&M board and well get ya taken care of

What BBQ food restaurants to check out in Alabama?

BBQ is food so it’s a BBQ Joint....not a BBQ food restaurant.

I think UGA has UMASS on the schedule this season.....you’d have some kindred spirits and tickets will be about $20 on game day.

To know for certain that you are getting along and not doing things you ought’n to be doing listen for folks to say “bless your heart”.....when you hear that you know you are in....keep doing and saying whatever it is you were saying and doing......if also hear someone reference you and “tacky” rest assured you have arrived.....we can offer no higher honor to our friends from the north than to “ bless your heart” and I’m sure being from Massachusetts tacky is in your DNA......

I'm sure dreamland was worthy of the hype back in the day, but the few times I've had it the ribs have been the driest I've ever eaten with little meat on them. Ribs are too easy to cook to consistently have that happen.
Which Dreamland are you going to?..there's a number of them(2 in Tuscaloosa). The only REAL Dreamland, the original one out in "little Jerusalem" (Jerusalem Hgts. in south Tusc. to be exact) is the place to go...the others are crap!

This is correct, but still pales in comparison

Georgia at South Carolina. There are a lot of Boston and New York folks around here. You'd feel right at home.

Some of the better games I would suggest are:

Alabama-LSU
Alabama-Auburn
Georgia-Florida
Georgia-Auburn
Florida-Miss St (Because of Mullen just having left Miss St)

These are just a few examples but if you can get to any SEC game where the two teams are rivals you will experience a pretty good college football atmosphere.

General rule for BBQ for me: No Ribs on the Weekends! They have to do a lot of racks for the weekends and they just dry out trying to hold them. The reason places like Applebee's/Chili's/Logan's have decent ribs(to be read not dry) is because they reheat them to order as opposed to trying to hold them. I am not saying those places have great or even good ribs. If you get reheated ribs even the big name bbq joints are dried out. I've had this happen at several places. Dreamland was the bomb back when it was meat and bread only!! What do you guys think of Full Moon? Their bbq is pretty good but man that chow chow is to die for.

Yeah the tailgating in Athens is pretty standard fare I guess. I wasn't really talking about the tailgating as much as the bar scene around campus. And the nonstop barking is bullshite.

Alabama vs Tennessee at BDS
UGA vs Florida at UGA
Auburn vs Georgia at JHS
LSU vs Alabama at TS

Idk which games this year are at which stadiums, but those are my picks.

Bama vs UT and UGA vs Florida because both of those games should have a clear favorite going into it so you reduce chances of fan expectations being crushed and therefore a ton of negative energy. On the other end of the spectrum I chose Auburn vs UGA and LSU vs Bama because despite the line on the game the games will be competitive and miserable in all of the ways that keep us foolish blokes coming back for more each year.

I chose against suggesting Bama vs Auburn because you don't need that in your life. No one does. It's war.

Plz no. Archibalds is ten times better.

As a long time smoker of various dead animals, I can confirm that Archibalds is indeed superior to Dreamland.

Best option of the 3 you listed. Athens is a great town. Also Auburn will be one down in the West by that time with a loss at State, so they should be salty for that game.

Boston fan interested in coming down to watch an SEC game by wazoo11

There really is no debate - UGA at LSU, Oct. 13. Here's why:

The game. At about mid-point in the season, both teams will probably still have a lot to play for, neither one will have lost more than one game at most in all probability. These teams are also very well-matched in terms of talent on the field.

The venue. Tiger Stadium, already notorious for having a loud raucous crowd, now at over 102,000 capacity, it simply can't be beat for crowd energy for big games.

The tailgating. The tailgating crowd easily outnumbers the fans that will be attending the actual game. BBQ? Pshaw, not only is there barbeque being cooked all over campus, but there are dishes you've never heard of, some you have, and available to all. The best way to sample the food is to walk around campus with a cooler of beer, when you smell some particularly inviting food, stop and ask what smells so good. Offer a beer in exchange, and you will be given food drink, a place to sit and football talk.

The environs. Many people come a day or so early to stay in New Orleans for the Thursday or Friday night to take in the sights, sounds and general experience there. There are many options to get to Baton Rouge from New Orleans on game day, but here's the thing - I only recommend this option if it's a night game on Saturday (to give you plenty of time to walk around campus before the game), or if you come down the Thursday before the game if it's going to be played during the day on Saturday.

Caution: I would recommend you wear your school colors on game day UNLESS they happen to be the same or similar to the visiting teams colors. At LSU you can expect razzing, and you are expected to give a certain amount of razzing back. Be drunk, but don't be a drunk a-hole. Show your spirit, and compliment the chef. You can't go wrong.

Everyone else will tell you their shite's better, but deep down everyone knows no one does it better than LSU on a Saturday afternoon.

1. LSU Tigers - When it comes to food, no tailgating scene in American can match LSU. Among college football fans, Tigers fans are the best cooks. Every LSU tailgate is a smorgasbord of local specialties.

1. LSU — Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Tigers tailgating starts Friday at 5 p.m. for Saturday games, and the food is off the charts. LSU dominates with unique and delicious tailgating dishes. Jambalaya, YUM!!!"

Following a disappointing second-place finish in 2015, the LSU Tigers are back where they belong — at the top of college football’s tailgating universe. Oh, how sweet it is to be No. 1 again.

While we ourselves have not been fortunate enough to attend one of these iconic tailgates, if the College Football Fan Index is as accurate as we believe, then we’re royally missing out. Whether it’s the crowd of incredibly devoted fans or the wide range of food options, it’s clear that Baton Rouge is the place to be.

"There's never a food shortage at LSU tailgates, and it's something every college football fan must try to experience."

"You're liable to see the gamut of Louisiana cuisine: jambalaya, gumbo, sauce piquante, whatever seafood is available, including alligator when Florida is in town, and of course, your basic barbecue and grilling," SB Nation's Billy Gomila said, per Chris Fuhrmeister of the site. "If it can be deep-fried and eaten, you'll probably find it on campus on game day."

"Death Valley is a must-see venue, but a Saturday wouldn't be complete without enjoying the pregame part of Tiger Stadium."

ETA: Did I say 'compliment the chef'? If not, compliment the chef, it's important.
