I don't understand why there is no open season enabling everyone to kill each python they encounter, whether it's killed with a shovel or a shotgun blast to the head.

I agree with you, let people kill as many of them as possible. However, you'll get morons out there, stuck in a swamp calling to get pulled out, lost, losing a fight with a python, bit by a cottonmouth, etc. Only guessing, but it could be that people are so stupid they'll get themselves in danger & become a liability themselves.

Tigrdad, I like seeing your posts, but there's not a chance in hell I'd ever go out with you. Any animal that kills, eats, & moves without arms & legs? They were the original devil for a reason.
I've had no more problems with people in Europe than I would being back in metro Atlanta with people with whom I disagree. And like the US, there are neighborhoods you don't enter. If you're traveling & it doesn't feel right, follow your gut. There are bad areas everywhere.

Generally, people are people. When I'm polite & grateful, I usually get that in return. But we're human, sometimes they're rude because of their day, sometimes I am.

Barcelona & Los Angeles for me.
Arizona State / Univ of Arizona

They're playing in Tempe this year. I've been a couple of times, the people are a lot of fun & an underrated rivalry when they're respectable. Unfortunately for this game, the student talent hasn't be nearly as good a night game in early October.

Tickets will be comparably affordable & the stadium's ten miles from the airport. Naturally, lots of things to do out there.

Why is this such an obsession with the "trust the science" crowd?

"Long Covid" is a term that has an incredibly open-ended definition. If Long Covid symptoms can be everything, then anything could be Long Covid.

Take someone who clings to this term. I imagine they never admit they're wrong, never apologize, there's always an excuse. The CDC's definition allows them to continue their virtue signaling while being pretentiously indignant.

Read the definition per the CDC
People with Long COVID can have a wide variety of symptoms that can range from mild to severe and may be similar to symptoms from other illnesses. Symptoms can last weeks, months, or years after COVID-19 illness and can emerge, persist, resolve, and reemerge over different lengths of time.

VTI vs VOO Portfolios Lab

I have my ETFs in VOO, but VTI isn't bad either. Looks like dividends are about the same, slightly better returns the past few years for VOO. Can't go wrong w/ either.
I live in Europe & in almost all cases, people are just people. Stereotypes exist for a reason & Italians being dismissive like that is one I've not heard.

My wife & I were in a restaurant the other day & a German woman just comes up talking to us, asking if we're American. Then she wants to tell us about her vacation to Arizona.

Thinking that this restaurant didn't want to serve you because you're American sounds like the gripes when people don't get their way or their conveniences & claim victim status because of their skin color. Truth is, they're restaurant workers, & were probably just lazy.
This tells me that the mother views her husband only as a tangible provider & source of funds. Because when it came to down this moment, it was ultimately the mother who chose her siblings & other family members to attend over her husband.

The daughter should've stepped up, but I'm willing the bet the mother's done what she wanted her entire adult life, living entirely off the man who provided for her. The daughter's been conditioned never to question that.

re: Veterans Claiming 100% Disability

Those that truly need it aren't awarded enough. If you lost a foot to frostbite because you were stuck in a muddy hole for days on end, then no amount of disability money is worth that.

42A/72L differ from an 11X.

Too many G1 desk jockeys with six years in get disability because they strained their back typing emails & got fat eating lunch at the PX Burger King every day. Seems like there are a lot of the latter in this thread defending their military welfare.

It's true that retiring NCOs & FGOs start asking around for info about which doctors are more lenient. I have a friend doing this right now. Makes it harder to respect him when he's trying to game the system.
I went to a college graduation last week. Let's just say that the family & friends of students who had two capital letters &/or punctuation marks in their first names were very colorful in their applause.
