Welcome friend!

Do yourself a favor and only look at the schedule after Week 5. There's a significant chance that games before then will be too humid and miserable for you to fully enjoy.

If this is a bucket list thing, then get the best experience.

Based on venue, dates, strength of teams, and availability of tickets: I would shoot for 10/13 Texas A&M @ South Carolina

Baton Rouge to NOLA is NOT 90 minutes. It’s about an hour and 10 mins or less from Campus to The French Quarter. Trust me I live here and know this stuff. I know more about LSU and NOLA than some Georgia fan..

It's 81.4 miles from Rampart and Orleans to the Parade Grounds. If your velocity was 70 mph from Rampart and Orleans to the Parade Grounds, it would take you one hour, nine minutes and forty-six seconds. But in all probability, the cops would stop you at Basin St. and give you a ticket - further extending your travel time. Bragging about flying across the spillway is fine with your friends, but it's no way to recommend driving to a visitor. Adhering to the various speed limits, with no traffic, you can reasonably expect the drive to take about an hour and fifteen minutes - or 75 total minutes. Assuming you're leaving from somewhere within the Quarter, and travelling to a point further on campus than just Highland at the Parade Grounds, you can expect to add about 5 minutes on either side of the trip to bring the total to about 85 minutes. Traffic in Metairie or Baton Rouge will easily add another 5 minutes to bring the total to about 90 minutes.

Trust me, I live in both New Orleans AND Baton Rouge and have guided many visitors to and from both cities. I know this stuff.

Speed kills.

Okay first off, it WON’T be a day game.

wanna bet? Even if LSU does have ~2 losses (likely) it's still a unique matchup that CBS would kill to televise. Every LSU/UGA game this century (not counting postseason) has been 3:30 CBS. The only way it's not is if LSU has 3-4 losses.

So 70 minutes instead of 90, heaven forgive me. Also what if he's not coming from campus? What if he's going straight from the game and encounters traffic?

Hey fellas, I’m a Yankee from up north that went to a college that didn’t have a college football team because BU disbanded their team years ago. I’m interested having a tailgating experience at an sec college with my friends. What game should be on my bucket list? How friendly are SEC fans to northerners? I’ve heard great things about Arkansas, LSU and Alabama but never been before.

If you wanna witness a big upset early in the season as well as experience the most unique tailgating in the country come to SC for the SC vs UGA game the second week of the season.

Cockabooses
Little Black Dresses in cowboy boots.
Great food.
Tons of local history ... visit the place that first seceded from you yankee fricks.
Enjoy the Southern Hospitality.
You'll never be in a louder crazier stadium full of 86,000 wild arse fans.
Get a suntan in under four hours in September ... so wear sunscreen.
Listen to tens of thousands yelling Go Cocks all at the same time.
Experience Sandstorm in live, living color.
Have Dawg fans bark in your face and watch their drunk women stumble around and fall down tits up.
Drink moonshine ... it's everywhere.
Drink Fighting Cock ... it's everywhere.
Drink Bud Light ... it's everywhere.
One of the greatest entrances in college football.
Plenty of BBQ to be had ... it's everywhere.

Visit Charleston before or after the game or head to one of our great beaches from Hilton Head island to Myrtle Beach and everywhere in between.

One of these things is not like the others.

Two of these things is not like the other. Can go either way.

Can't promise a good game, but for SEC game day experience, Bama vs. Ole Miss would be a good pick.

It's in Oxford. Campus is nice, "scenery" isn't bad either. It is more catered/pot luck tenting than tailgating. But, it is always a good time. UM fans are pretty welcoming with sharing chow and drinks.

Plus, it's a night (or at least day into night) game and UM's first home game of the year against a real opponent. So, the atmosphere should be good with plenty to do before, during and after the game between the Grove and the Square.

One of the best teams in the country vs potentially one of the best offenses in the SEC.

UGA at LSU & Auburn at UGA will both be 3:30 kickoffs on CBS. You can’t go wrong in Baton Rouge or Athens. Be sure to not wear Barn colors in Athens unless you want to get spit on.

Y'all are spending a lot of our Boston buddy's money

He just wants an experience. Hell, I wouldn't pay the prices its going to take to get in UGA vs LSU or Bama vs LSU

Show him a good time and good memories. he can watch the huge games on TV like the rest of us

The LSU experience can be great, but you need it to be a guided trip. A few wrong turns or random guesses at where to be and you will see all the wrong sides of a typical southern city.

I hear great things about Athens, those pics of all trash are not nice though. I hear great things about Columbia too. I have not heard great things about Gaineville or Starkville. I hear Fayetteville and Oxford are good times, but I'm not sure what kind of product you'll see on the field.

Don't do bama - the fans are so incredibly intolerable and smug. Don't do A&M, it's just not an SEC experience. It's a yell leader experience, nobody needs that.

A friend of mine a few years ago invited me to watch UMass vs Florida. I had to pass because September humidity in Florida is unbearable. Also, the Gators weren’t good either.
