Apparently this isn’t about OU/TU… it’s claiming that ESPN has talked to at least 1 remaining member about leaving.

.@SINow has obtained the cease and desist letter that the Big 12 sent to ESPN. In it, commissioner Bob Bowlsby says that ESPN has reached out to at least one of the eight remaining Big 12 members in an attempt to convince the school to leave in wake of the Texas and OU exit.

They're already in here acting like it was not them.

ESPN is filthy in this thing. I’m interested to see this burn them.

Hopefully trying to get them in some other conference besides the SEC. We don't need any more big12 leftovers.

Hmm I wonder who that is?

Kansas has the most value but they would be tied to the Big 1G aka Fox.

I don’t think any of the Texas schools left are on their radar.

If I had to guess it’s about West Virginia and the ACC.

OU and Texsa are still technically Big 12 members. Bowlsby is an idiot

It's also coming out, another legal aspect, that the commissioners of the PAC 12 & BIG 12 are claiming that Sankey was sitting in on the CFP committee on expanding the playoffs while knowing that he was also involved in getting OU & TU to leave the PAC 12. This would benefit the SEC in getting more teams in the playoffs. The BIG 12 commish was also on that committee & acting in good faith while Sankey was obviously not. Bottom line, they are looking at holding off on expanding the playoffs till timelines can be brought out in the open. More legal complications that could slow everything down.

Big money business deals like this always get hijacked by corporate lawyers to get as much of the cut they can.

So you're saying that this could be legit instead of the ingrate 8 huffing and puffing?

Interesting times for sure.

They kinda can if the media outlet in question has contracts with all parties involved and is speculating on news they have essentially created.

My guess is ESPN will make the Big-12 get a judge to act upon their legal position that is essentially a gag order on a public current event. Furthermore it is probably not in the best interest of the Big-12 to pursue such action.

Cease and desist letters are worth about as much as the paper they’re written on if said paper is being delivered to a sufficiently wealthy person or entity. They’re a great cudgel for getting critical content from small players wiped off social media and youtube. They don’t work so well when directed at other large entities.

Sounds like ESPN is trying to pick the Big 12 apart so it collapses altogether and get UT and OU to the SEC faster.

If there was ever a case for tortious interference, this is it. If that's the case, I'm glad the Big 12 called them on it. That's ridiculous.

I mean it's pretty obvious isn't it?

The problem for them is that Mickey Mouse will bend them over.

If they had anything of substance to go to court over they wouldn’t be kicking and screaming like a toddler with these impotent statements and weak cease and desist letters. It’s all over but the crying…and crying they are doing.

A troublesome American situation indeed when the heart of the land of Cowboys has become filled with pussies.

Not only that if the Big 12 collapses OU and Texas wouldn't owe any exit fees.
