That's called an anomaly.

The anomaly happened for The Odyssey as well and Michael and Project Hail Mary...Obsession made over $475 million on a budget of less than a million dollars. Movies are doing just fine.

Audience attendance is still very much down from the pre-Covid era.

Well, no shite, but you said "no one goes to the movies anymore" and as someone who goes multiple times a month that is bullshite. Attendance has definitely been on the rise since collapsing during Covid.
quote:

Yep. I wish they would show you the number of tickets purchased not the money it makes. No one goes to the movies anymore. They just keep jacking up the prices to fool you.

The packed theater i was at last weekend begs to differ..at every showing, all weekend.

I don't think Sony needed Marvel to put up those numbers at all bc da Andrew Garfield one made even more without marvel, can't get that one past us

huh? BND made more in its opening weekend than The Amazing Spiderman made in its entire run.

$927 million in three days is.....impressive.

Good Lord.

Has a movie ever made that much in a single weekend at the worldwide BO?

Saw it yesterday, every showing from Thursday to Sunday at every Dolby and IMAX AMC screen in the Indianapolis area said almost full. The parking lot at the one i go to was as packed as i have ever seen it. I have not seen a movie theater like this since before covid.

1) he's early 50's, still within the "he can be here a good while and build a program" age. But the older he gets, the less that is true; so 5 yrs from now that will have passed. He'd be getting to the point of a "we can make a run with him" guy.

He is 51...Saban was 53 when he won his first title and 58 when he started a Dynasty...things are lining up nicely :pimp:

You're talking about human nature. Somehow in your fantasy world the people who didn't think it would be good are subject to human nature, the people who bought their tickets a year ago and have been jazzed for six months to go see it are not. Do you really believe that?

I don't go see many movies at the theater so I'll catch it on streaming, but that has nothing to do with the controversy.

So.....no

Sorry, I typed this up this morning, forgot to submit, and then won a natty with Pete Golding in NCAA.

Yeah, you can do a lot of unrealistic shite in that game
most poorly modded board on the whole site...good luck getting anything done about anything.

I have an idea for a fantasy novel in my head and the Mrs. tells me I should write it but I don't think I'm smart enough Don't want to write it and then someone read it and be like wtf is this, this is the worst thing I've ever read in my life.

But what if they like it?

I left my review in the OP.

Outstanding review

I wish I could put my thoughts into words like that

The casting of her is beyond stupid. There is no defense of it.

We agree, but its not enough to dismiss a 3 hour movie for less than 5 minutes of screen time, the majority of which you can barely even see her face.

The Oscar committee will reward him for it I'm sure.

Yeah, Nolan really struggles with the Oscar committee, I'm sure this will get him over the hump

Now back to the actual movie, it was a lot for one viewing and I walked out liking it but wasn't sure if i loved it. The more i think about it though the more i want to watch it again and the cave scene in particular was chefs kiss.

I didn't have any sound issues in my Dolby screening, maybe a word here or there but it was definitely better than some of his previous movies.

To the one asking about Athena, I think she was Athena using the form of the trojan woman.

Shut up you tranny-loving, pride month-celebrating, low-t, beta male cuck commie. I think I got em all in there.

I feel like you missed one, but im not sure

Jahns calls it awesometacular

And that is all the review I need. Very rarely do I disagree with his review of something

I just looked at one of the early showings that last week of July and all of the openings are in the very front or on the sides.

I’m not driving two hours for a shite seat.

So exactly like I said, its almost like I am in Indianapolis and know what I am talking about....thank you
quote:

Why are you defending this movie so vociferously? It's like the people in the Disney threads. Really bizarre.

Its not defending the movie, its laughing at the idiots. This movie may turn out to be complete arse and if so i will say so. But the constant negativity from a section of this board, and not just this movie, has grown incredibly tiresome. Some of us just want to talk about movies.

Wow, still got people thinking this is going to tank

Im in Indy, have been looking for weeks trying to find a good ticket to see it in 70mm first that isnt on a Monday morning or something and he want to send me a link telling me its completely open cause it doesnt say sold out
quote:

every showing starting Monday, July 20th through August 12th is completely open.

i don't know how well this is going to do. the sold out shows are the ones that were listed last summer... i think.

Did you bother clicking on any of them or just saw where they didn't say sold out?

as i said "unless you want to sit in the front row"

also, if every ticket other than the handicapped and accompanying seat are gone, it still doesn't show as sold out.

There are a few tickets here and there at inconvenient times but nothing I would drive from Kentucky for in the next few weeks. It certainly isnt "completely open"
quote:

Going to try to get up to Indy in the next few weeks to see it on 70 mm IMAX (closest to me).

Good luck, i am in Indy and my 70mm ticket is July 27th

Uless you wanna sit in the front row or go at 10pm on a work night its a tough one to get right now. Im going Dolby tonight.

Auburn (30) and Alabama (24) lead the way amongst original SEC members.

LSU has 24 but I'm guessing that 22 number is because of Derrius Guice.
