Anyone who believes private equity is good for college football is a hapless rube

Woe to the program who invites this into their house, an unequivocal enemy of the sport.

Does naming rights fall under this?
quote:
The University of Arkansas secured a 13-year, $70 million naming rights deal for Razorback Stadium with CommunityAmerica Credit Union

Not the same, but they're both part of the larger shitvironment that CFB is now
If a PE firm is brought onto a program that does not sell its naming rights already, those rights will be sold...soon.

Lol, naming rights are a relatively benign item compared to the shitshow a PE firm would introduce. Not the same. One is introducing a sponsor. The other is handing over the entire operation to a group of money whores.

I personally don't think PE takeovers are a huge threat to college football (or college sports generally).
Why?
Because teams managed by PE firms likely won't be very successful because PE firms aren't going to drop $1m to sign a RB out of HS. PE firms penny-pinch and try to create efficiencies in order to maximize their ROI. There isn't going to be a ton of ROI for a PE firm if you're spending >$50m on a roster (including coaches, analysts, etc.).

Replace “private equity” with “ncaa” and I’d agree.
