if thinking it's pitiful you guys are still on about this amounts to "stanning" (sic), sure.
the good news is that it was extremely unpopular, both locally and nationally, when the ua power brokers tried this before, so much like the new ua president trying to take the med school from uab, you do not have to worry at all about them trying again any time soon. uab has a football team now and thats that. there is zero percent chance it changes any time soon. (goes for both.)

i guess if it's medical research it doesnt count? as if this is an argument against what i said... but sure, they're a tier 2 medical school nationally, a top 12 receiver in NIH funding. there is nothing else remotely close to that in this state, let alone in the ua system. take issue with 'elite', sure. but that's the obvious point being made.
and it's not like the campuses are actually in competition in this way; they are complimentary parts of the same system, a system in which uab is bringing substantial revenue, more than any other campus as i said.
i think it's fine if they have a shitty football team personally.

Interestingly, it is a shitstorm if UAB doesn’t have football but if UA wants to have a full blown school of medicine the UAB power brokers will suffocate that idea in the crib.

the ridiculous blunder that led to the system having an elite research institution in the state's major city that brings in more revenue than any of its other campuses.

'redstone arsenal' isnt a single employer. there are more ppl there but you've got army personnel, contractors, boeing, etc.
uab as a singular entity has more employees; redstone arsenal a higher headcount across the various entities opearting there.
it's really beside the point of the being made. this asinine idea that uab is leaching off of 'alabama' bc they have a football team. uab is by any measure a massive essential part of the ua system.

i mean uab brings in more revenue on its own than the campus in tuscaloosa. they're also the largest employer in the state. seems objectively important.

yeah i mean everybody thinks it doesn't work on themself we all think we're special, etc., but as a matter of routine 101 level human psychology, it 100% does. of course that doesnt mean every ad works on you, but the idea you're immune to the immense amount of advertising you're subjected to is a common delusion.
