Are you serious? Private equity provides a lot of money to all kinds of ventures that wouldn’t happen without investors. Sure, they are cut throat and want a profit but who doesn’t.

You guys are funny, Youth sports have never been better than today. Literally any sport your child enjoys can essentially be played year round because people have found a way to monetize dumb parents. My son played travel ball which was awesome. But we didn’t go over the top with it like these threads always suggest. It’s no different than fat people going to pizza buffets everyday. It’s not the buffets fault you can’t control yourself.

No, you're funny and not too bright. There is no comparison between the current landscape of college sports and youth sports/travel ball.

Soccer travel ball is a reason listed for the failure of the US to attract and develop elite soccer players. Travel ball is expensive for parents and it seems to have taken the place of youth sports vehicles from long ago. I live in an affluent suburb of Jacksonville and frankly it galls me to have kids looking for donations for their travel ball when their parents are driving them away in their Lexus and BMWs.

I will give you this: both travel ball parents and college boosters have an insatiable desire to fund whatever it takes to be competitive or "cool".

Yep. Private equity can be extremely beneficial if they are pushing to grow the venture. It's why companies take PE firms on. But when they're ready to move on, the purse gets tight which is when you have the negative effects of PE.
