they had maybe 10 to 15 k in NOLA. Pathetic.

That’s all the fans they have. There is no fan base for Miami.

Do you think loyalty is weird? What in the hell are they teaching in the schools over in Louisiana?

Like everything else with Aggie . It’s not the message, it’s the way it’s delivered

Loyal,

South Carolina.

I only say that because before Lou, they had some horrible seasons and I witnessed a packed WB, many times.

Yep. During the whole 0-21 nightmare we still sold out every single home game. Blindly loyal with a whole lotta crazy mixed in.

Although when USC is on top, it is a Hollywood event and far exceeds the buzz surrounding Miami when they are on top.

I do not know how old you are, but the hype around Miami when they had it going was huge. You could go into any city and see Hurricane merchandise. It was not the same with USCw. Perhaps it was because Miami's time lasted over 12 years, where USCw's time lasted only 4.

Miami has fair weather fans for sure but the difference is it isn’t a college town. Same with USC.

There is more to do in either of those cities than all the SEC towns combined plus more

I would say SC and UK footbal

Kentucky has a hard time selling out both football and basketball. They had to remove seats from both Rupp Arena and Kroger Field. They only fill them up when they are winning and playing a bigger opponent.

That is one of the reasons they will not play us is because they are afraid we would bring more fans than them to their own place.

Ole Miss has to be on the list somewhere.

They removed seats because of the modern dynamics of sports. One of the things I hate with modern sports is college following the Pro trend of shrinking venue sizes to charge significantly higher charges per seat.

You are high as a kite if you really believe this. You can tell venues that do not protect their turf by having seats filled with the opponents school colors. Rupp Arena is well know as a venue almost impossible to see large blocks of an opponents colors. As for being worried about Bearcats in Rupp or Kroger.

~12K for 5/3 Arena (about the size of Vanderbilt's arena)
~20.5K for Rupp

20.5 > 12K

~40K for Nippert (about the size of Vanderbilt's stadium)
~60K for Kroger (about the size of the original stadium before numerous expansions). The original stadium was expanded to around 68K and was selling out well over 70K, well exceeding the "listed" capacity.

I have been in all 4 venues over decades of my life and the biggest game in Nippert used to be the local high school game between Moller and Massilon. Because of the location at the center of campus the stadium was most popular at night as a place to make out than folks showing up there for football games.

I would've never guessed they had trouble selling out Rupp. If true, I learned something today

Except they sold out every single home game during Shula's final year.

When people kept showing up at home and went on the road to watch painfully average football?

Gamecock fans are not only loyal, but they are also passionate. It’s one thing to continue to sell tickets and maintain support through many lean years, it’s another to consistently create a great gameday atmosphere and hostile environment at home, travel to away games, and heavily support other sports like baseball and women’s bball.

However, the Muschamp regime took a toll. I sense he stole a lot of the vigor from South Carolina fans.

Same thing happened with Joker at UK

Dang, can't find the cheerleader pic anymore with the "Go Cocks" bloomers.

I'll jump on the South Carolina train for most loyal. I went to a couple of games in the Brad Scott era, and was always impressed with the fans in spite of the record.

Reminded me of LSU before we became spoiled.

Muschamp definitely took a toll on the fanbase. We still have good crowds, but they're not packed sellouts like they used to be. There is a renewed enthusiasm under Beamer but only time will tell how we look moving forward.

It seems like the teams people are saying are most loyal don't have much else going on in that town and vice versa.

I remember a Shula game vs Southern Miss (Prothro catch). The stadium was packed. That was the second game coming off a 6-6 season. Attendance records are listed in case you want to research before posting. The only game below 80k in Tuscaloosa was vs Western Carolina in 2004. Was never below 90k when they went to new capacity of 92k

Hell, Alabama travels better than 99% of the schools. That's how you determine how loyal a fan base is.
