I can tell you why the disdain exists- sexism! They cannot stand that a strong female has broken one of their sacred records.
quote:

Look, I know ESPN and the other liberal talking heads are trying to push this "she broke the NCAA record" talking point, but we all know that's garbage.
But she did break the NCAA scoring record. Why are so many having a hard time over this? She deserves her accolades.

Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell said hello.

EDIT: ...and don't forget Dr. J - Julius Erving.
I doubt West would see much playing time today but no men today could guard the other 3 or 4. Two of them are 7ft tall. You are taking my question all wrong, all of you are. What I am asking is whether the skills of today's women are better than men from the distant past.
Look at the amount of discussion Caitlyn Clark has created. It has been almost a decade since someone named Caitlyn created this much buzz.
quote:

OP's name references Oscar Robertson and he posts this drivel.
Oscar has been called the greatest basketball player of all time, at least when it comes to college. But to be fair, even he did not do what Caitilyn and Pete have done.
quote:

Which women? The women with cocks or the women with vaginas?
It is unlawful to discriminate against one's personal preference but we will keep the discussion to those born with a vagina.
quote:

50 years ago? You mean players from the 70s?

No.

Players from the 50s and earlier?

Quite possibly.
Thank you, that is probably a more realistic comparison.

Did Pete play against many black platers or only a few?
Today's women's basketball players are more skilled than men's basketball players before full integration.
We're not comparing Pros to collegians. We are only comparing college athletes.
quote:

I think so too. Basketball technique has come a long way. Plus African Americans can play now and they're much more athletic. Caitlan faced better competition than Pete did.
I agree with you about basketball technique being better and Caitlin Clark has proven that by outperforming every male player ever.

Mr Naismith would be shocked by all of this.
I think they are. They are more skilled.

The phenom that is Caitlin Clark has turned the game up on its head and has shown us girls can compete too.

The ACC is the only conference left with schools desired by the Big 2. Cincinnati is nowhere near the level of UNC or others in the ACC.
If UNC was all you say it is then why is the ACC about to implode? Even ACC basketball sucks now. I'm so thankful Cincinnati is in a stable conference and did not join the mediocre ACC.

What system?
Systematic racism for one. It puts up a glass ceiling for females and minorities of color. The fact that most of the players are black but few of the coaches are is proof of that.

Don't judge her because we have not walked in her shoes? She sure as hell judges white people & safe to say she doesn't know any of us white folks as individuals. She's an educated woman & knows exactly what she is saying & why & to whom. She attacked LSU & in a subtle way, Kim Mulky, when she accused LSU's administration of not giving Fargas enough time & support. Ignoring or not caring that LSU had given her 10 years.

Maybe all she has ever known from white people is discrimination and hate. As for the LSU issues, I don't know. 10 years does seem long enough to give someone a chance to me. Maybe there was something else going on.

Please explain to me how the Big 12 is not the worst “power 5” conference? Not with anecdotal trolling but with substantive evidence, please.
The Pac 12 is now the Pac2 so there is no Power 5 now.
The ACC is being held together by a GOR because no one saw any value in them. The schools you mentioned will jump to either of the Power 3 conferences that will take them in. Why people continue to refer to the Pac and ACC as being on the same level or above the Big 12 is beyond me.
quote:

That is hilarious. The Big xii is an absolute shite conference. The ACC is way, way better. It’s not even debatable.
The Big 12 is not a shite conference and to say the ACC is better is laughable. If the ACC is so great then why is everyone trying to leave it? The Big 12 will take what it wants from the ACC and it will be no more.

"Good role model"? At what? If you remove the words "black" & "race" from her vocabulary she's couldn't write a children's book. She is a great coach but like Bobby Knight's style / persona, she's not one I'd send anyone's daughter to play for. Tanner won just as many national championships in a lot tougher, competitive sport / league.
That is unfair. We cannot judge her by our standards because she had a different life experience than us. I believe in trying to understand her and not judge over this.

Add an HBCU
I would like to see one of the P4s give an HBCU a chance. The PR alone would be worth it. Which HBCU would you offer?
quote:

Not Cincinnati.
Cincinnati will never leave the Big 12 and I am fine with that. The Big 12 is easily the #3 conference and will always have a seat at the table which is all anyone can ask for.
