I'd pick SC if I did decide to bolt from Louisiana again. The culture fit, access to beach and mountains, low country boils, still very much the deep south, etc, all suits me.
I'm not thrilled that a lot of Yankees are moving there, though.
NC for the longest time has been considered the "half backs" state... Yankees moving to Florida then deciding to move halfway back. Maybe that's what's spilling over into SC.

If Missouri will wise up and cut state income tax like others it will boom.
Interested to see where the list of “undocumented” landed.

East TN is absolutely thriving on transplants. The only issue I see is the kids not seeing the benefits that made the parents move here. Parents leave a blue area the the kids loved tend to see the kids not understanding the problem with blue.

Its that coupled with real estate prices in Florida but SC is also booming from a jobs POV...the entire state is growing like crazy. Wages are not great but low wages coupled with low cost of living is preferable to no wages and any cost of living I guess....SC is growing like crazy. Long time residents cuss it about as much as long time Texans (anyone who has lived in Texas more than 6 months) do.

Did an internship in New York 15+ years ago. Loved the city. Was back in Manhattan last week for the first time and shocked at how far it’s fallen. Pretty sad to see. Made downtown Houston look utopian.
The fall of Manhattan within the last decade has been wild.
It has become a complete shithole.
20 years ago it was on the up and up.

Where do you go to vacation? To a beach
We're 5mi from the beach in Gulf Shores. Retired and pretty much permanently at da beach.
Daughter, SIL and 3 grands live 3hrs NW of London near Cambridge. They've been there since '08, career military.
We go for 2 weeks erry year, have visited most of the Continent during that time. Visiting the sights in Europe never gets old...

As a Louisiana resident, I don’t see this as a problem. The fewer people, the happier I am.
On a micro level sure. On a macro level that kind of pattern will be a big problem for Louisiana.

I have a buddy in the Hill Country who swears 100K a day are relocating to Texas from California alone and have been doing so for about 20 years. When you mention the math doesn't seem quite right he will pooch his lips out and its hard to enjoy your beer when you buddy is pouting like that....
He may not be far off. There used to be some miles between the peace of Hill Country and the hustle and bustle of Austin metro. Not anymore. And way more wineries/distilleries/breweries than can realistically survive.

STL would be larger than it is had the dumb dumbs in the city not divorced from the county in 1876.

Bill DeBlasio single-handedly killed it. NYC has seen ebbs and flows throughout its history, and I think we’re just in an another low point.
From about 1962 to the mid-to-late ‘90s it was also a crime-ridden shithole. It saw a renaissance for two decades plus, but things started going backwards around 2020. Unfortunately history says it may be 2050 before things turn around.

"Pretty sure these stats are off. Seems like all 800K departing Californians moved to Austin alone."
Damn sure feels like it. We Texify all those blue wave wonkers as fast as we can, but when added to the tidal surge invasion from the South, even our broad Texas shoulders are getting tired of bearing the strain...

STL would be another Chicago if that were the case.
