In this new era it’s all about matchups for any future SEC add, it’s why I think the only valuable properties not in the B2 are UNC, Miami, FSU and Clemson. ND too, but no way they’d go SEC.

All are in growing and football-rabid areas but more importantly are prime time matchups to so many SEC opponents.

New 4 pods of 5 seems possible in the next major shift while maintaining far more regional matchups than the B10 joke.

Coastal:
Clemson
Florida St
Miami
South Carolina
North Carolina

Core:
Bama
LSU
Auburn
Ole Miss
Miss St

East:
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
Vandy
Kentucky

West:
Texas
Oklahoma
A&M
Mizzou
Arkansas

9 conference games per year, play your pod every year and switch divisions NFL style.

Each pod has at least 2 programs anyone could see winning the conference any given season. A 3rd team who can win it every 2-3rd year. A 4th team who could win it every 4-5th year and a 5th team who has a history of upsets. I’ve ordered them appropriately.
Kentucky and Arkansas, how do you think your coaches will be ranked on this list in 4 years?
He’s going to have a big shadow coming from LSU. I’m curious for you Rebel fans, if you could choose to win one and lose one. LSU or Mississippi State?
You can’t lose that many bowl games and then get run off the field by 30points to your rival and think a fanbase is going to give more time.

I agree. The only argument in favor of Drink is if someone perceives the ceiling being so low at Mizzou that he has done the impossible of making multiple bowl games.

Gary proved Mizzou can compete and get 10+ wins in any 3 year stretch.

I think Brent has done more. I watched Drink pee down his leg last year in Norman and refuse to win a game OU begged Mizzou to win.

But truly, If the programs traded coaches I think they’d both be about the exact same programs. At the end of the day we are arguing about upper middle class homes.
I for one find Tech’s new money arrogance refreshing. Good for them. Let them big time everyone. The system allows it and they’ve been watching Texas and A&M and before them SMU so this stuff for generations.

I welcome our new Tech overlords.
A&Ms alumni ‘good ol boy’ network is unparalleled. I don’t care what any study shows, I’m not an A&M fan.
Ceiling 9. Until Drink proves he can beat a big name coach, I refuse to give him the benefit of doubt (so that’s guaranteed losses to GA, TX, & 1 of A&M/Ole Miss/OU). This is best case.

Floor is 6.

Sankey works for the presidents…who work for E$PN.

Be mad at old Greg all you boys want, but we are a Disney property. It’s why the 4 of us B12 schools migrated in.
Wow! Moving heaven and earth! I imagine the 600 ACU fans who were preparing to travel in would be devastated.

You could drop those 2 teams with a smoke signal.
They could have 60 days of rest and it isn’t going to help the beating Georgia is going to inflict. This is weak weak sauce behavior.

Does he know he’s the one who scheduled Utah? Don’t do west coast if you don’t want to play at their prime TV slot.
How much pressure can a guy with guaranteed $90,000,000 and a guy with $30,000,000 really have? Dear goodness, please let me experience that kind of pressure.

The key word from the OP is “now”. These 18 year old kids have no memory of Florida’s championships. They’ve seen a train of fired Florida coaches.

The same for Tennessee. I wouldn’t dare put Mizzou in the Big 6, but an 18 year old kid has seen Mizzou accomplish as much as Tennessee and Florida. Auburn is the closest to being in but their bad seasons are so bad in recent memory it’s hard to put them there.

Finally I’d say the big 6 are the big 6 because when you beat them or even lose close it’s a respect builder. No victory over a mid 6 at this time gives much SEC or national clout.

Your best chance of a schedule like that is if we go to 20 and treat it as basically 2 conferences.
The Big 6:
Bama
Georgia
Texas
LSU
OU
A&M

The Mid 6
Auburn
Florida
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Mizzou
South Carolina

The flailing 4
Vandy
Kentucky
State
Arkansas

It’s almost like the main teams who were paying massive money to create a competitive roster depth had the best teams of all time. So strange…nah im sure it was just the winning culture. Not the cash and cars
Welcome to the b12 LIV football Friday night matchup brought to you by the Saudi Fund.
34 teams and the ACC/B12 (counting ND) still don’t have the talent of the SEC.

Every conference game there’s 8-10 more NFL players on the field than the little 2 of the “power 4” and 4 more NFL players than the B10.

It was idiocy to go to a 9th game without a massive pay day.
This sounds like an AD saying whatever he needs to say to get $.
