So State has the last two national champions (LSU, OM) as permanent opponents. Makes sense, but that makes it tough.
On the plus side, State did win 2 out of 3 against both last year.
In fairness, though, everyone took 2/3 from the Rebs last year.

I am not talking about the baseball team. I am talking about the university as a whole. And LSU absolutely needs more students from Texas.
Louisiana's population is declining, while Texas is exploding. LSU decision makers want to get more Texas kids enrolled to keep growing and not become stagnant.
Athletics are a great way to showcase the university. So LSU decided to push for A&M to be a permanent rival in sports because that means more games in the state of Texas.
A&M agreed because that want to be associated with a successful sports brand. Win/win for both sides.
I know fans dont like it but caring what they think went out the window years ago.

I'm assuming this will be a 24-game slate
We play 30 league games now. I doubt that number goes down with the addition of the Big 12 yahoos.
I'm pretty sure he means the two permanents (6 games) and then a 24 game slate with the other teams (which gets you to 30 conference games per year); which would mean you would have a home and home with all the other non-permanent teams at a minimum every four years. I would definitely think this is how they will do it.

This does show me that the SEC could make three permanents for football work just fine. Keep the two baseball perms plus add:
Mizzou-Vanderbilt
Tennessee-Kentucky
Georgia-South Carolina
Florida-LSU
Oklahoma-Texas A&M
Arkansas-Texas
Auburn-Ole Miss
Alabama-Mississippi State

Bud, a baseball series every other year in the state of TX isn’t going to have an effect on enrollment numbers

LSU didn’t push for anything. They played A&M every other year in TX because they’re in the same division, not because of some grand plan concocted by the two schools.
If anything, A&M needed a program to replace Texas and LSU was the only program they had any real history with when they joined the SEC. Well, that shouldn’t be an issue starting next year
You’re just making up false narratives at this point

Because State and LSU are the two biggest programs in the conference, why wouldn't we be permenants??
Reading is hard sometimes. And I understand the little brother mentality is strong here as well.
Ole Baw was just saying why didn't OM get LSU and MSU, not why did msu get lsu and OM didn't.

"Vandy got a couple cupcakes"
Apparently you haven't been paying attention the last 5 years. The Vols have been to 2 College World Series in the last 3 years.
Oh and Tennessee has a current 7-game winning streak against the Dores.

Kentucky actually has a pretty tough draw. Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

fricking Mizzou.
It’s like getting Vandy as your permanent opponent in football. Not sure how we could even remotely be mad at this one.

I do too, and they were certainly good days to be a Sooner.
1999 football was the first bowl game in four years. First winning season in five years. Followed up with OU's 7th National Championship the very next season.
2022 Sooner baseball wasn't supposed to get out of regionals. First CWS appearance since 2010 and only the second since 1995. Pretty average team that gutted it out all the way to CWS Runner-Up.

Probably, but its the draw A&M wanted.

A lot of angry Arkansas fans in here. Why the dislike on the Mizzou pairing?

Ya'll are the poster child of little brother, when's the last series you won against us, like a decade ago??

There's no probably to it. No series has that much history. Also State holds the head to head

Arky is fine I guess but I would have preferred LSU

You may want to go look at the series win/loss lately, highly intelligent poster.
Posted on 11/9/23 at 3:29 pm to gamecockman12
Because it's boring especially for baseball. I hate that we won't play LSU every year now.
