Right now, we can only have a few players together at a time. Basically footwork stuff. How are we going to get from where we are now, to full contact, sweating, spitting football in 6 weeks? Not gonna happen.

You realize they’d probably be letting them do more of it was time for it right? It’s not really COVID holding them back.

We don’t normally start practice until August

I think we can all agree that a season in less than two months is very unlikely. I dont think there will be a spring season either. I look for 2020 CFB to be cancelled.

Bama, UCF, or both claim another natty.

Oh yes it is. I know how the practice works. I also have a Georgia High school football coach working for me. He has coached all over the state. Im talking football in general. There are some pretty solid covid related rules right now and they are getting tighter, not less. Not many people together at once. The ones that do practice can not practice with other sporting groups. No close contact.

I know pads dont start till August but there are things going on that is not being printed.

A HS administrator made a good point a few days ago when we were talking...

Team A has positive covid cases and is scheduled to travel to Team B on Friday night for a game.

Team B isn't going to allow their team, fans, school to be exposed to Team A. So that game is cancelled...

If that happens several times throughout the season, they will just cancel the season. You can't keep up with region standings with random forfeits mixed in, it just derails everything...

Which is why this season isnt happening. No one has the balls to say it yet.

Same scenario. Team A has multiple players suddenly have symptoms of COVID. Players state they have had symptoms for a couple days but did not say anything. They have been around the team.

Entire team quarantine for two weeks?

I'm almost positive high football won't go. College might go but only because of their TV money and obligations. Not even sure their will be a formal season for all school will probably just be games that a schedule for TV only. So all the big schools might get to play 3-4 games that bring in big ratings. Auburn thankfully has a huge TV market base. But if nothing to play for in the grand scheme how good are the teams going to play or will it be like scrimmage type settings.

I think we will have football in the spring this year. I think the colleges realize fall ball isn't going to happen. They are making an effort for show though. All indications are there will be a vaccine by the first of the year. Pro sports are making a valiant effort but I don't see any finishing their season. This funk is spreading so easily and many times people have it and don't know.........even the ones being tested.

I just dont see how they will do it in the spring. That is when the thing has been at its worst.

I also dont think there will be a vaccine by spring. There has been really not a lot of talk about that. Even if they got one ready by winter, the ability to manufacture, distribute and apply that would be a big undertaking. Then, we would need to gain confidence that the thing actually worked.

There are just so many bad and unusual things that could happen if they did have a season. I am not sure the NCAA is a good enough organization to deal with that. Teams are going to need the approval of the school, state and NCAA.

You're right.

Let there be even 1 death from a student athlete because football is being played, and everything will shut down immediately...

The HS associations, the NCAA, or the colleges don't want that on their hands...

The NFL has already said they won't move the combine, pro-days or the daft so draft eligible players would have to decide if they wanted to play out the season or start training for the draft.

It's not entirely for show...no one wants to be the one who made the call, and you have to continue prepping as if it will happen because, once you pull the plug on fall ball, there's no way to restart it if it turns out we could have gone forward. Also, less of a blow if fans have already realized it's not realistic.

With all of that said, decision day has got to be coming soon, and most everything seems to be trending negative. At a minimum, the virus will need to be in full retreat.

We're so far from that right now too. It's spreading exponentially right now, especially in the south.

Football ain't happening this year.

Ivy League just cancelled all fall sports.

That's the first domino

ETA:

UNC just suspended football activities because 37 players/staff tested positive.

Everyone already knew. It was just a matter of time before the word came out. I fully expect the NCAA to whimper in the corner and wait for the Schools/State Governments to make the call.

I would fully expect the state of Georgia to pull the plug on High School Football and all activities around it very soon. Its just a matter of time

Unfortunately but its the right call. Just not the one we want

it's spreading more or there is more testing?? Still to this day I don't know a single person that has or had the virus and I know a lot of people. I've heard rumors of someone's cousin or a friend of friend getting it but no one I know has tested positive.

But I agree football more then likely will not be played until the money people get involved and force the issue. If that happens we may have some games. At this point though who cares about a season, we are in a pandemic, our cities are on fire, you have militia groups setting up different zones in our country I think we have more important things to concentrate on or at least that's my view of the situation.

Yep it's the economics that's got them tight lipped, but the thought of all them big boys panting back and worth across the line is hard to forget.

Three hours of the big ugly's sweating, breathing, pushing, and holding onto to each other says it's just a matter of time. Might as well call it for collegiate wresting too.
