As per ESPN:

“We preach emotional maturity, and I really feel strong that across the board we had that with our team and would've never expected that to happen," DeBoer said. "You got to give yourself a chance.

"You're out there giving everything you got. You just got to give yourself a chance. And so, emotional maturity is what it comes down to. And we've been pretty good at that going on the last two years. Obviously, the moment comes up like we had just now, we didn't respond the right way.”

Also, I said last night that heat from his teammates might be more effective than heat from the coaches although the coaches decide who plays …

Senior safety Keon Sabb also was asked about Lee's penalty.

"He's my brother till we die," Sabb said. "So obviously, I try to uplift him. But there's a standard that we need to play with. And on that play, he wasn't up to the standard, and it will be addressed."

Question - is it emotional maturity that tells a fella to turn his head and look for the ball? He never does. Lock on to a receiver... watch his face and body... turn and deflect or pick it off? I am not as knowledgable as some of you - so is that "emotional maturity?"

They keep running him out there. Will be interesting to see if he’s the starter next week.

No but the fact that he’s been a sore spot for us all year is a separate deal from the acute issue of what transpired last night.

Emotional immaturity = impulse control. Hard to coach it out of kids that haven't been corrected on it until they get to college.

This … it shouldn’t be on Nick Saban or Kalen DeBoer or their staffs to teach or coach basic impulse control.

He did something very stupid that cost his team.

He's also not very good at playing football.

Lee is a high emotional, low impulse control individual. And they'll always do something stupid when pushed hard enough.

I am wondering about the emotional stability of our fans. I don't remember fans ever throwing bottles on the field before. I am upset about the officiating, but you don't throw things at the players after the game. I remember Georgia Tech fans throwing bottles at Coach Bryant, but I don't remember Alabama fans ever doing that. Has this happened in the past?

Yes. Happened in the 2007 UGA walkoff win in front of the student section. I always thought it was a horrible idea to put the student section right at the visiting team tunnel. Not sure if that is done anywhere else

Nope. Should have thrown shite at the officials instead. But UGA players did poke the bear by running over and taunting the student section when the game ended.

Our players did the same shite to Auburn students in 2021 and got pelted with debris. It shouldn't happen but players also shouldn't poke the bear especially when the bear is barely legal and has consumed one too many bottles of paw paw's cough medicine plus is still breathing fire following a game changing missed call. And I know they were also getting hit as they exited the field but it they instigated it. And again, I'm not defending it. But it's like walking up to Hell's Angels and calling them bitch arse pussies.

We have a lot of players injured on the defensive side, especially the defensive backfield. Might be no choice.

Lee is not the only DB who does this. They are in phase and don’t look for the ball.

Idk but you can tell DeBoer is fully vested. Dude is all in. I think he finally fully understands what being Alabama's head coach means. And I'm here for it.

What drives me crazy is often, he’s in good position relative to the receiver but even when the receiver turns his head for the ball, for whatever reason, Lee just will NOT turn his head and look for the ball. He would probably have 4-5 INTs if he had just turned his head. ??

Don’t overstate it. He had one mistake. It came at a bad time but until that episode he’s never had an emotional outburst.

Some players aren't coached to turn and look for the ball. Nick taught not to turn their head because he felt it caused a momentary let up in their pursuit which created separation. He called it "staying in phase". So I have no idea if him not turning his head is taught or something he just naturally doesn't do.

Student section has done it a few times the past few decades. Saturday was different. It started well before the UGA players went to the student section. We got drenched sitting at midfield after someone threw a full stadium cup. Saw several bottles that were aimed at UGA personnel on the sideline. No excuse for that. Get online and rant about the refs or UGA if you must but don't throw shite. Ever.
