CBC and NAACP asking fans to boycott sports over redistricting

This is wrong in so many ways. Don't think they're gonna get much traction with vast majority of fans.

How’d the SBC Disney boycott in the 90s or early 00s go?

They’re going to get nowhere with this. Especially in the world of NiL.
Young adult African Americans are the lowest voter turnout population in the country. They damn sure aren’t going to sacrifice a bunch of money to protest they likely don’t care all that much about if voting statistics are any indication

When the NAACP endorses a white Democrat over a Black Republican you need to not ever regard the organization as anything other than a Democrat Party operative

I mean, when you carve up Memphis into three districts to eliminate the black vote you shouldn't be shocked at that group being angry with you.

You say they were eliminating the black vote - IMO, that is misleading. I’m not intimately familiar with the circumstances, but my guess is that the intention was not to eliminate the black vote but to maximize the the Rep vote, i.e., elect as many Rep reps as possible.
If Memphis blacks voted Republican , Rep & Dem behavior would be reversed.
In summary: It is not a racial issue, it is a political issue.

People aren't stupid. You can spin and put as much lipstick on that pig as you want but it's still a pig.

"Considering race when it benefits me...progress."
"Considering race when it doesn't benefit me...racism!"
Democrats just trying to rile up minorities in an election year to manipulate their votes...as usual.

I will be totally fine with Bama losing every game in every sport from now until the end of time if it means we save the country from Democrats.

The Republicans are playing a game of semantics: racial gerrymandering is illegal. Political gerrymandering has been ruled as permissible by SCOTUS. I don’t agree with that decision, rigging voting is rigging voting no matter the reason, but it is what it is. So the GOP comes up with the idea of relabeling their gerrymandering as political and oh, by the way, it just happens to impact minority voting exclusively and is embraced by the deep South so fast it makes your head swim. How convenient.
I want my country and my state to move past their ugly history with minorities. And call it what you will, this gerrymandering is racist as hell, if not by design, by results. It is wrong and it is wrong for the Democrats to try to play tit for tat. We insist on playing these political games while our country spends itself into ruin and all we care about is labeling our brothers and sisters who hold different opinions and views as “liberals, socialists, conservatives, neo Nazis, far left extremists, far right extremists.” We are Americans who used to be able to debate politics civilly and find compromise. But now the other side is evil and out to destroy the country. Anybody that believes that on either side needs to look in the mirror and realize it is YOU who are destroying the country. And some of you need to remember your Christianity and the golden rule. And you all will downvote this post to hell because it hits too close to home. I don’t care. You need to look in the mirror and look in your heart and evaluate yourself and your intentions.
And just so you know before you go labeling me, I am an old, white Christian male who has voted Republican my entire life because I have conservative political views. But I do not agree with extreme political views of any kind and that is what I am seeing from the GOP and I cannot and will not condone or support this Republican party. MAGA and Trump are dangerous extremists that imperil our democracy and I am sad and disappointed and angry that I voted for this wannabe dictator 3 times. I will never vote for a GOP candidate again as long as the party is controlled by the extreme right. In the past, I would have been considered pretty conservative. In today’s climate, I am probably labeled something like a left-leaning centrist. Again, I don’t care. Right is right and wrong is wrong and I am objective enough to know the difference and will not support it.
Rant over, fire away.

Interesting that you mention MAGA and Trump and that you disagree with them, but you say nothing about the states that were redistricting their states to eliminate red seats. The moves that prompted the SCOTUS to make their ruling.

Needs to be eliminated by both sides. And we need to move to popular vote at the state and federal level. Will of the people. Won’t happen but if we weren’t knee deep in political frickery where only common people suffer then it’d be best for everyone

C’mon man! The Republicans were rattling that saber way before the Democrats decided to fight fire with fire. Both sides are wrong. Eat your crow and enjoy it.

We have a problem and both parties have contributed but right now the GOP controls all federal branches.
The problem is we actively delegitimize the rule of law with pretzel logic rulings that obviously come down to: blue man can’t, red guy can - OR - in 2022 we thought red team ascendant but now in 2026 red line go down and we need to help. The other problem is the outright corruption in broad daylight that will not get addressed.
An additional problem is the gerrymandering done by both parties delegitimizes the representative nature of our government.
These things are poison.
When you add in the erosion of our rights, the erosions of checks and balances, legislature being in the cuck chair, executive an emperor, and the judiciary functionally the unelected legislature…you have to question the long term stability of this nation. We paved the road to this point together though.
I’m guessing the reason we’re building data centers is to use AI as a surveillance god to keep us in line as this system falls apart.
It’s grim and we need to stop being at each others throats and see the real enemies.

Only one side is attacking voting rights, sending squads of anonymous thugs into our communities to hunt immigrants, putting the President above the law, insisting that the President can serve more than 2 terms, attacking birthright citizenship, alienating our closest allies, and starting idiotic wars.
I mean I'm sorry but those are all a much, much bigger threat to the well-being of this country than raising Jeff Bezos's taxes, prioritizing renewable energy, and women having access to abortions. They just are, and there is no good faith, straightfaced argument to the contrary. The GOP is a gang of lawless thugs.
