I have never and will never pull harder for anybody outside my own orbit than Tyrann. Every time he succeeds, gives back-and just proves that he is a GREAT human being, a little part of every hater dies a little death. #LSU4Life #LSUFamily

I consider Tyrann the best playmaker that I’ve ever seen .

The Tyrann Mathieu story, shouldnt and cant be told any other way. Limiting his accomplishments to on the field is only telling half the picture. His redemption and attitude at this point ultimately has way more of an impact than any amount of notoriety/fame/money that being a high draft pick would have given him. You cant have the person and leader that we have no without the struggles and trials he went through then.

is making negative comments about a player during the draft a common occurrence? i watched part of this years draft because of my Tigahs. Polian is probably not a great human being like Tyrann.

TM7 is still the best defender/playmaker I have ever seen at LSU. He stands along Burrow as the two most dominant players I have had the pleasure of watching wear the purple and gold.

At maybe 5'10" and change, roughly 185 or so pounds (in college, anyway), remains the most disruptive and game changing defender I have seen in over half a century watching American football. The only defender in college even remotely close was Derrick Thomas. The only one in the NFL was Lawrence Taylor. He was a defensive player you had to account for on every play. And even if you did, he could still disrupt the play/generate a negative play/force or get a turnover.

Honey Badger destroyed by Dawgs in the SECCG. Hell of a player. LSU should've just let him smoke.

He can say all he wanted to about TM7s character, but the second he called him speed deficient he lost all credibility.

He was all-rookie, a pro bowler, 2x all-pro, and made the NFL all decade team to go with his Lombardi. All while overcoming devastating injuries.

Yep. Most guys don’t come back from tearing both ACLs. Much respect to the athlete and the man.

I love Tyrann's response. What a class act! He's one of my all time favorite Tigers because of these way he got his sh!p together.

Didn't he draft Rae Carruth? What an a-hole.

TM7 has done great things. His issues came when he was young. PP7 forced him to grow up and showed him how a grown man acts.

And that’s why Bill Polian is sitting on a TV set and not in a NFL front office.

Bill Polian was a great GM, but he showed his arse in that interview...

He is an arse clown. He is part of the establishment. He has some award in the past. He wears suits and has a clean haircut. That helps him get on TV. If not, he is an arse clown.

To preface: TM is my favorite athlete now and of all time. That being said, it’s easy to trash Polian now, years later, for giving his opinion on a player’s character who he would be right about 99 times out of a 100. Tyrann Mathieu is by far the exception to the rule and that should be celebrated. I do disagree on his opinion of TM’s football prowess however.

Your comments about Polian and how much he beat the odds is spot on. Most of the time these guys cannot and will not change their habits, even for an NFL paycheck. TM7 realized how much he loved and wanted the game in his life, so he chose to grow up. Polian was not wrong to say what he said. He was answering from a GM perspective and how a GM thinks. But, I am glad he was wrong about the Honey Badger.

He sounds like half the rant around that time. People were hating on tm constantly. Saying very similar stuff to polian.

Bill polian is a total piece of crap. Polian is the reason I quit watching NFL Today years ago. I couldn't understand why others on that show kept kissing Polian's arse.

I’m happy for Tyrann that he turned his life around and grew up. Everyone makes mistakes and should be given the opportunity to redeem themselves. With that said, based on what people knew about Tyrann at the time Polian’s analysis was pretty spot on.

The kid took it like a man. Paid his penalty and moved on, that could/should have been the story.

Mathieu was also the Chiefs MVP last year and not the guy that won the MVP from his own team. They said they don’t win if not for him. That is incredible about what really goes on in the locker room.
