LSU defensive end Gabriel Reliford suffered a season-ending ACL injury in practice this week, according to multiple reports on Saturday afternoon.

Reliford did not practice with the team on Saturday.

The redshirt sophomore from Shreveport, La., played in just four games last year after suffering a torn rotator cuff in LSU’s win over Southeastern Louisiana.

Reliford played in 13 games during his freshman season in 2024 and was expected to be a big part of LSU's defensive end rotation this upcoming season.

Well that sucks.

But it happens every year. There’s always an impact player who gets lost for the year in preseason practices.

So does torn ACL mean not even ready for fall camp? 6 months? Just curious

Recovery is a bitch.

You don’t even *start* training on an athletic scale till six months. 3 months is the typical minimum (9 months total) before you want to do any uncontrolled athletic activity without risking reinjuring it.

Your timeline is bit off. Its 3/30... 6 months from now is the end of September. Basically October. 4 or 5 ish games into the season so yeah. Hes done. Tough break for the kid. Hope he keeps his mentality strong and positive and comes back better than ever

He’s not playing this year.

In theory it might be possible to play in the bowl game if he heals very well, but do you want to add someone that out of practice to the rotation at that point?

Sometimes players get hurt even in the softest of practices or conditions. Anyone remember Maason Smith? He could have been wrapped in bubble wrap and still got hurt.
