Not quite sure of the point you're trying to make. Perhaps try again in Engrish?

There were checks being cashed that were picked up on Fridays taken straight to the bank where the only work was driving in a truck and picking up the checks.

I was in track and appreciate the sport, but Nick brought in more money in one year at LSU than Pat probably did in his entire track coaching career. Honestly, nobody cried tears when Pat left.

Not a SINGLE track program in NCAA history has ever “made money”. Going back to Pre and everyone that has ever ran in Track Town. I just completely disagree with this opinion with Nick and Pat. The GOAT McDonnell at Arky lost a lot more money than he brought in. It is about titles. There are really only 2 revenue sports and it’s because of TV revenue.
LSU WBB has lost roughly 16 million the last couple seasons but people would die if Mulkey left…
Pat, Mulkey and McDonnell are all examples of coaches losing a ton of money at their respective universities but people cared about them because of how great they are/were.

ZERO doubt Williams and 99.9% of the blue chippers got paid illegally for decades across the country.

Passan also said a few days ago that he didn’t think they would bring him up before the trade deadline and he was untouchable from a trade perspective. Called him Generational and annual All Star. He also said they need more innings from their starters.
The fact is the Mariners are PUTRID vs LHP and aren’t going anywhere unless they make some trades.
BTW - I was reading that Gausman may be part of a trade should the Jays decide to dump.
Would be good for him.

I will answer that. How many people have physically been to a track meet at LSU?
many
Also went to the Texas Relays nearly annually since moving back to get a glimpse of what LSU may look like as they used to send several teams.
I’ve missed the last couple. I was there when Mondo broke the Jr WR record.
There was terrible weather the night before and I thought it would be cancelled that day. The forecast wasn’t looking good. Glad I went.

Give me Antonio Gates. 6’4” 255 and ran 4.5 or less. He left a many DBs in the pros. Gates was a great basketball player in college.
Took his team to the elite 8.
He’s what I hope for with Green at TE and with his added height, he should be a force. Green can line-up tight and release abusing LBs. Lane has a ton of options with him.
Well said.
I’ve been saying this for a long time. Skip Bertman was a horrible AD and tight wad. He screwed football, baseball and Track because he was either jealous or just didn’t care enough.
Loved him as a coach and consider him and Dedeaux as the best ever, but as an AD, he was pure shite.

You have to toss out the high school rankings and look at it rationally. You see a guys like Rizy & Cooper Williams heavily regress under Yeskie in Year 2 and didn't have a ton of hope for Paz next year given his extreme lack of control.
and yet the staff led the nation in Ks.
It isn’t a one or other. Terrible defense helped them also lose confidence. It isn’t that hard to understand when a pitcher gets into a mindset they need to be perfect how that impacts them. They also are all trying to master other pitchers and some take longer than others. Throwing it in practice isn’t the same as coming in with the bases loaded and trying to throw it.

Johnson tried bringing in both at different times with men on base and at the beginnings of innings. Both of them completely lost confidence. It happens.
Yeskie didn’t forget how to coach or call pitches. This is about the mental game as much as it is the physical. Probably more for a reliever.

Then there is the whole sophomore slump which is absolutely a thing for some ie you’re far more on your own than freshman year.
The late John “Hot Rod” Williams out of St Amant. Turns out that was a good miss because he actually let LSU win a game over Tulane. For those that don’t remember the point shaving situation and the NCAA shutting down the Tulane basketball program.
He was the first NBA player to sign what was considered a massive contract (yes before Jordan).
He was also a really nice country boy and never really changed like some people do when they make a lot of money.

dude is playing the long game
Ryan became a better pitcher later in his career when his arm slowed down. Of course he was 40 by then and had about 5000 Ks.

Mizz

Imagine Him(Misiorowski signed with LSU in 2022), Grant Taylor (who got hurt and missed 2023), and Paul Skenes as Friday, Saturday and Sunday starters (no matter the order). That was potentially the best rotation in history of college baseball with Shores as a closer and Floyd and Cooper in long relief.

If Charles Davalan doesn’t miss play that ball.

Get out of here with this bullshite.
If Moore and Evans don’t miss significant time? If Chris Stanfield doesn’t missed the entire season last season? If Jake Brown doesn’t misplay that ball at UNC or miss the last month of the season this year…
You can if this shite to death. Baseball doesn’t give a shite about “if”. Statistics will get you every single time when you least expect if.
Here is the one and only rule - Pitching and defense wins games and championships. Consistency in those 2 gets coaches into the hall of fame.
You cannot lose pitchers and your defense can’t suck even with great pitching. Last season LsU did both for lengths of time. The defense killed some of the pitchers and helped inflate their numbers because they had to stay on the field longer than they should have.
Pitchers walked a shite load too which inflated numbers.
No sport is more beautiful than baseball when it’s played in true harmony.

You are mixing stories. Dale Brown related the story that John Williams was being offered large amounts of money to sign with other programs. So Dale went to visit Big John and his momma and he claims he opened a suitcase with $50,000 and told John if he accepted the offers he was like a piece of cattle ( or some Daleism). Dale claims John and momma were so taken with his pitch that John signed with LSU and no money changed hands.

Williams got paid in college. It was 300K he was offered to play.

Don’t be fooled by people that don’t know what really happened during that late 70’s early 80’s run.. His mentor was a bookie too. Let’s not forget that.
That wasn’t my suitcase full of money for Chris Jackson, I swear. RIP Ron.

Castillo
look at his contract for 27 and he has a vesting option. Gilbert is arbitration eligible in 28 and making 10 a year.
That’s even better value if you’re trying to getting power. They need relief pitching. They are going after that and power hitting. They will trade and want something for those trades if they dump someone like Gilbert. Castillo is not a healthy dump BUT they would want to dump him.
They need hitting. I hope they fail at everything. I hope all their arms suffer UCLs on September 2. The salary floor proposal would impact their spend so who knows. MLBPA is going to lock out if something better isn’t proposed.

No such thing as 40 man roster expansion, th

True. I was thinking pulled up to the 40 man was after 9/1 but that’s not the case as you pointed out. I was also thinking about the Rule 5 draft for other potential players in there system and conflated the scenarios on what may they could do to protect those players with trade value for hitting, which they need.
It’s a nice position to have all that starting pitching in their system.

People can multitask.
take it from someone that is old where this topic and others are important to brain health. Read books and stay off of social media like TikTok and Instagram.
People absolutely cannot multitask like we think except on extremely routine functions where it runs in parallel like walking and chewing gum. . Read a little on how the brain actually works. It is called task switching and it destroys your productivity for tasks like he is performing. You want to know why we have an increase in ADHD, look no further than twitter, TikTok, Instagram and other platforms that produce short content. Watching that short content actually rewires the brain and cause a drop in focus.
Here is a little more on that topic:
“The brain is primarily linear and serial in how it processes complex thoughts. For most activities, the brain cannot truly multitask. Instead, what feels like multitasking is "task-switching," where the brain rapidly jumps between tasks. This causes delays and reduces overall efficiency. However, a strict rule applies depending on how well the task has been mastered:
1. Complex/Conscious Tasks: LinearThe prefrontal cortex—the area responsible for complex problem-solving, planning, and focus—is inherently inflexible and handles only one demanding task at a time. When you juggle two complex tasks, your brain creates a "bottleneck," and the quality of both tasks drops.
2. Overlearned/Subconscious Tasks: ParallelThe brain can achieve true multitasking for highly ingrained, automated routines (like walking while chewing gum or knitting while listening to a podcast). Intensive practice allows the brain to "rewire" itself, shifting the task from the prefrontal cortex to other areas like the temporal cortex, making it subconscious.

Why Task-Switching is Costly
Switching Costs:
Every time your brain changes focus, it undergoes cognitive changes that take time and mental energy to reload.

Reduced Productivity:
The American Psychological Association notes that constant task-switching and background distractions can cause productivity to drop by up to 40%.
Stress
:
Rapid shifting interferes with ongoing cognitive processing and increases the brain's baseline stress level.”

Damn dude that’s a lot of words

Well, baseball is complex with so many rules, statistics and of course $$$$$$ to drive decisions. It isn’t a “now league” until it is in nut crunching time at the trade deadline and 40 man roster expansion.
