Gary Danielson Has Honest Admission About SEC Bias After Announcing Retirement
© Landon Bost/Naples Daily News/USA TODAY Network-Florida / USA TODAY NETWORK
While on former ESPN analyst David Pollack's See Ball Get Ball podcast, the recently CBS announcer Gary Danielson addressed the narrative that he's an SEC guy...
quote:

"One of the things that I tried to do is not to pretend to be an SEC guy. I thought that was an insult to the SEC fans," Danielson said. "That I just joined in and go, ‘I’m one of you guys.’ I didn’t earn that. You (Pollack) earned that by playing in this league; you grew up. I tried to call balls and strikes and stay in the middle.

"Did it work perfect? Maybe not. You know, the social media kind of ran with it. But it worked good for me. That was what I liked doing… I respected everything about the whole league and what I was doing every week, I’ll tell you that."

Hahaha! “I’m not a Bama homer; I’m a SEC guy”.
Yeah, nobody’s buying that, Gary.

I won't miss his Bama homerism. If he wasn't biased to Alabama, then why did he bring up Saban and Alabama in EVERY game he called, even when they weren't one of the teams playing?

It got so bad that I just muted him on any SEC game he called. I don't give a flying frick how Saban and Alabama did it or what they said. Call the game for the teams actually playing, you dumbass.

When I was still a young buck, a Ford commercial and a Chevy commercial came on back to back during a Nascar race. In the commercial, both of them compared themselves to a Toyota. My dad said after - Do you know which one has the best? Toyota, the one the others compared themselves to.

It was obvious he loved Alabama. He did a shite job of hiding that.

Gary had no dog in the hunt - he's from the midwest. If he "loves" Bama, it was because they were the dominant team in the league whose games Gary covered.

My favorite was when the GOAT(19 LSU) Team was beating Tua and dragging his arse around and GAYree would go Tua looks like he’s hurt now, then he’d complete a pass “Tua looks like he’s getting on a roll” Chaasion sacks that a$$ and GAYree goes “Looks like that leg is bothering him again” Back and Forth with anguish in his voice while CEH was skull dragging and Burrow, Chase, and Jetts abusing them through the air.

Just to be clear, the 2019 Bama-LSU game was decided by 5 points and was never a slam dunk for LSU. No one could ever possibly describe it in the way sissy boy did.

I remember a few "down" years for Alabama when Danielson would seemingly try to coax the committee to include Bama. "Don't count Alabama out yet!" was a favorite phrase of his.

Was there a Saban coached Bama team that you would have counted out? I don't think Gary was biased towards Alabama in particular. I remember him slobbering over Tebow every chance he got.
Gary gushes over whoever stands out and like it or not Bama stood out.

He literally never said it like that. You’re thinking of Verne. And they were both very good. Verne was just a great sports guy. His career was amazing.

Don't be mad Alabama score a lot of touchdowns. How else would you expect them to react?

Can you think of a way that we could have avoided hearing that?

It’s perfectly ok for a fan of a SEC team to root for an SEC team if their team isn’t in a game

He was obviously never a Bama homer. He also wasn't a very good announcer, so there's that.

If we are going to shite on every announcer that has called games where Alabama beats down LSU, we are going to need to list every major sportscaster in SEC history.

Glad he's not doing Bama games anymore. you could hear the hurt in the guys voice when Bama made a big play. The "aw geez". just always got on my nerves. Most broadcaster don't like Bama but Gary and Verne took the hate to another level.

no, he just appeared to favor Bama (in the eyes of some) because Bama was the dominant team in the conference that he worked in. Of course he's going to have favorable commentary for a team that has the best players, the best coach, and wins most of their games.

“Lot of Louisiana pussy’s commenting here.” Comes to a site called TIGERDROPPINGS and says this…situational awareness is not your strong point.

The guy treated LSU like we were the Washington Generals. Seemed to prefer whoever we were playing. Even given that, hardly any negative comments from LSU fans.
