Zero common sense when it comes to these lightning delays.

I completely agree with the lightening delays that are occurring now. It is really not about the players and people, but the media personnel and equipment. Once again, society is being engineered by the weakest amongst us.

I don’t really remember it growing up either. The Arkansas/Tennessee game in 2001 was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life and that game finished in under 3 hours I think.

The lightning delays are ridiculous. No one has ever been struck in the stands or on the field inside a stadium. It's physics. If they were playing in an open field it would be different. You can't eliminate all risk from attending a game. More people are hurt on stairs in slip and falls or from dehydration or an accident in the parking lot. The whole thing is ridiculous and not backed by science.

An Ole Miss coach was struck by lightning in 1994 in Tuscaloosa, game was stopped at that point

In August 2000, a bolt of lightning struck Lee Corso's rental car in the parking lot of Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia, right after he picked against the Virginia Tech Hokies. I remember. LOL

No OM coach was struck. Lightning outside of the stadium caused a delay, but the game was completed.

So, the moment somebody gets struck (incluing you), are you gonna keep this stance?

Amen! If it's your time...it's your time...whether kilt by lightning, drunk driver or a gargoyle statue falling off of a bldg onto your head.

(but lawyers will never let that happen)

That's why i say speed limits, especially in school zones, are for wimps. If the kid gets his head smashed like a grape fruit, it was just in the cards.

Does Dave think he can get OSHA to look the other way when it comes to all the support staff they need to put on a football game?
user avatar

For real. Last I checked Brian Kelly wasn’t head of OSHA

And you clear the stands….. those upper decks are up there.

Keeping players safe when lightening is in the area makes sense, it's the mandatory 30 minutes after the all clear and warm up time that is unnecessary.

It's lightning, there is no e in it
