FBI is processing evidence of a crime before releasing it to any details to the public.
Should the US Attorney General be discussing the evidence with a prospective nanny at lunch?
I mean if you are going to make the play that all of this is above board, shouldn't you comment on the lunch tidbit?
That's kind of an important detail, no?

re: Do any of you lifelong Catholics believe Pope John Paul I was murdered?
Posted by Tiger985 on 5/8/25 at 5:33 pm
I read a book back in the 1980s called In God's Name. It made the case that John Paul I was murdered, poisoned I believe.
I'll have to look this up again, but I seem to remember it had something to do with the Vatican Bank and corruption that was supposedly going to be uncovered.
Much about his death sure seemed suspicious.

If the cardinals wanted to say "screw you" to Trump by picking an American, they would've selected a U.S.-based liberal such as McElroy (Abp. of Washington) or Cupich (Abp. of Chicago)
No idea what kind of Pope he will be but for today, he seems like a compromise candidate.
It was likely very clear they neither the most liberal or the most conservative would be able to cobble together the necessary votes and they quickly moved on to a candidate all sides could live with.

Sorry I couldn’t find the long thread
It's stupidly pinned at the bottom which has suffocated the conversation.
Pinning threads at the bottom of a page is dumb.

re: Bill Cassidy leads Louisiana Senate race, new poll shows
Posted by Tiger985 on 5/3/25 at 7:21 am
Cassidy has locked up the money.
It's going to take a lot of money and a decent candidate to primary a sitting Senator.
The so called no it all's have said, look, shouldn't we spend millions on defeating Democrats, not a sitting Republican Senator?
The wildcard is Trump. If Trump goes all in against Cassidy, it might get interesting. If Cassidy plays nice and supports Trump on the big votes, he can likely keep Trump out of it and win.
If Cassidy keeps lining up with Collins, Murkowski and McConnell he will screw himself. I suspect he won't screw himself because he wants to win.
I hope Trump goes after him. He's horrible.

The lost 2 close games. Curtis has a nice team.
They play in an extremely competitive district.
I suspect they are fine. Maybe it's a young team.
Things cycle in this district.
re: Outdoor tv: Any moisture issues?
Posted by Tiger985 on 4/24/25 at 10:59 pm
No problem with my TV on patio but I have had an occasional issue with the remote when left outside on a little table under TV. It would get some dew and not work unless fully dried. I just keep it inside now.

Scalise is not a smart man. It's amazing how he has climbed the ladder and become relevant in politics.
It says a lot about the state of affairs in government. A huge collection of mediocre talents with a few legitimate retards mixed in.

re: House Republicans plan on tax cuts and spending cuts. Will vote on May 19th
Posted by Tiger985 on 4/23/25 at 10:28 am
You will NEVER see spending cuts. These guys understand they can't get re elected on a program of actual spending cuts. Congress is there to spend money, not cut it. That is a reality no one wants to hear.
If something is slated to grow at 5% they change that to 4.98% over a decade and crow about cutting spending when nothing at all has been cut and the actual slowing of the growth never materializes anyway.
It's all a scam.
The only way spending gets addressed is if something massively breaks like in a real shite hit the fan scenario. Like a natural cataclysm. Absent some event like that, our representatives have zero incentive to actually improve the economic outlook of the country.

Dude voted to convict Trump for Christ sake.
Trump will need Cassidy's support for his big beautiful bill so he will lay low for a while but Trump is coming for Cassidy when the time is right.
And Cassidy really has no choice but to support Trump's bill.
I don't see any path for Cassidy but he will have money.
