So we will stop deporting illegals at the places you find the highest concentration of illegals?

Obama's if you don't break the law you're safe policy is back apparently.

You think a nuclear armed Iran can be tolerated?

Why not? The Iranians are not irrational actors on the world stage.

The Iranians are not going to launch a nuclear weapon at Israel, which would literally mean the end of Iran.

The world would function just fine if Iran has nuclear weapons.
The American people will never stand for the pain necessary to address the financial issues that face the country.

It does not matter if the White House or the Congress is controlled by Republicans or Democrats. The spending, deficits, and debt will all increase.

One day, something will collapse and at that time there is a small chance enough people will get serious. But until that time the show goes on. Not because of any politician, but because the American people will not stand for changes to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or defense spending. Those are the only portions of the budget that matter along with interest payments on the debt which you cannot do anything about.

"serious Medicaid reform"

"No pork"

Where are his details?

The American people, who claim to hate deficits and debt, would never stand for the pain necessary to right this ship.

Any bill that Massie supports would cause an electoral wipeout for Republicans. He knows this. He also knows he couldn't get anything passed.

Democrats and Republicans will spend until it all collapses. The American people will stand for nothing less. It's ridiculous to think the Congress will take some pro active action to prevent the collapse.

The show goes on.

Correct. Trump knew Epstein, this isn't news.

If Trump had Epstein dirt it would have been out in 2015.

Elon is just smearing Trump.

Whatever bill this board would approve of would have a 0.0% chance of passing.

If Republicans actually put forward and passed a bill that would attempt to put the country on a sane financial path, none of them would get re elected and the party would be destroyed.

The American people would never stand for the pain necessary to fix the problems. This is why it will never happen until something collapses.

The political reality is that only shitty bills will pass because Congress is in the spending business, not the cutting business.

This is true for Republicans and Democrats.

No one is cutting social security, raising retirement age, means testing social security or cutting Medicare/Medicaid and defense. It would be political suicide.

The show goes on and it's a waste of time to even get upset about it. It's like screaming about the sky being blue and grass being green.

This board is in denial of the political realities.

There is zero chance something Massie and this board would love ever get passed. Like zero chance.

They just do not have the margins. You have maybe 20 people that would support it.

To actually attempt to "fix" the budget would cause pain the population will just not stand for.

No one would get reelected running on that kind of pain. It would be a disaster.

You can only "fix" this situation with massive changes to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense and payments to states.

It will never happen until something breaks or collapses. Nothing will be done pre-emptively. It's political poison.

So we will go on just as we have with increasing deficits and exploding debt. It doesn't matter who is in the White House in that regard.

This is a congressional problem and Congress is a perfect reflection of the voting public.

And guess what happens when something collapses? The prescription will be more spending.

Congress is in the spend business. End of story

I respect Milley for his service and for taking a stand on his principles. You don’t have to agree with him, but he knows more about service than most Americans ever will.

It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in.

Has to be a troll.

Milley exercised powers that belonged to the duly elected President of the United States. He advised others to ignore orders given by the President. He is a scumbag who obviously holds zero regard for the Constitution, which he doesn't understand at all.

He belongs in prison.
Milley has been trotting out this line for years. It literally makes no sense.

Has he read the Constitution? He does know that the powers of the duly elected President are defined in the Constitution?
Lot of denial in this thread.

Some of you sound like people questioning whether email or the Internet will catch on in the 80s because AI has some flaws today in your line of work.

The rate of improvement will shock you.

The machines coming for your jobs get better every second of every day, 24/7.

The next decade will be horrifying.

People are either oblivious or in denial.
No one is getting reelected on cuts.

You don't get re elected by cutting Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security or Defense. Those and monies transferred to states are the only relevant parts of the budget. And the money sent to states isn't getting cut either.

The rest is pennies in the sofa.

Nothing will ever be cut. Congress doesn't even define cuts as real cuts. Congress exists to spend, not cut.

The debt trajectory will continue upward as it has for decades.

It will go one this way until something breaks or collapses and the answer will be to spend more, not cut.

It sounds like everyone is willing to bend over and take it and just say that this is inevitable.

Unfortunately it's too late already. The technology long ago passed the ability of our laws or elections to deal with this problem. And it is a problem, a grave and accelerating one.

I think people are really in denial about what society will look like in the next 2, 5, or 10 years.
ACLU is correct .

We shouldn't want to live in The Truman Show. Our movements in public or private spaces should not ever be tracked. It's frightening.

Do you remember how this board jizzed all over themselves when she was nominated?

Hell, many wanted her nominated for the previous opening.

She's not perfect, but she did move the court significantly to the right. That's objectively true considering who she replaced. She helped overturn Roe vs Wade for goodness sakes.

Would a Thomas or Alito been better, sure but there are never any guarantees and you can't ignore the politics of it, it needed to be a woman and this was probably the best it could be.

The big beautiful bill will fail.

Sorry for the spoiler.

Never should have been a big beautiful bill.
Whoever sold Trump on the idea was not working in his interests. Likely Speaker Johnson.

Some factions will support one element but not any others.

Other factions will love most but will call some other things a deal breaker.

It's doomed to fail on purpose.
Doesn't Macron know if Putin isn't stopped in Ukraine, the Russians will be in Paris by Christmas!

Wait until the "big beautiful bill" fails to pass because that's what will happen.

The establishment is just trying to run the clock out on Trump.

Sure he will get some EOs that they can get overturned in a few short years.

But the other 2 branches are aligned to stall and stop the entire Trump agenda. They know Trump doesn't have the margins to get anything done.

And once the midterms pass he's a lame duck and it will be all the more easier to obstruct. As a bonus, Democrats will win the House and impeach him again just as a distraction.
