I wanted him way back in the day, still would be cool with it. I’ll admit I don’t know a ton about him but I remember wanting him a while back

I asked about this guy last night. Here's an article on it. Kirby offered him $1.1 M

A source tells KSR that UK Offensive Coordinator Eddie Gran was offered the position of Offensive Coordinator at Georgia under Kirby Smart in the last 24 hours. Smart has offered Gran total control of the Offense and a salary of at least $1.1 million.

A decision has not yet been made and Gran is pondering the offer

He sounds like a good hire, if true.

Also per 247 Sports:

Smart has spoken glowingly about the veteran coach before.

"I think they've got a great coaching staff," Smart said prior to Georgia taking on Kentucky. "I've got a lot of respect for Eddie Gran. I think he's one of the most physical offensive coordinators in the league. He believes in running the ball and being tough and physical."

Smart has also expressed his respect for how Gran doesn't mind being creative when it comes to putting together an offensive game plan.

"I think Eddie does a really good job of each week having a different presentation of what people label ‘wildcat,'" Smart said. "Then looking at the picture of what Kerryon (Johnson) did in that package — Auburn does it a little different than them, but Kentucky does a really good job. Their percentage of ‘wildcat’ based on this year was actually higher last year versus us, and that is usually predicated on how much success. If it is working, you do it more. They had a couple of drives last year, particularly one at the end, they ran almost the whole series in the ‘wildcat.’ They are good at it. They are physical. Our kids talked last year about that was the most physical game they played in from a defensive standpoint because it was so much grinding and hitting."

I’m no coaching expert, but I’m not sure about that, and we may lose Coley. Smart knows better, so I have to trust him.

Coley likely would have his man feelings hurt and leave, which wouldn't be the end of the world. Gran could take over south Florida recruiting, and it'd be a fresh start in the offensive meeting room in terms of dysfunction.

I mean Coley has proven to be a mediocre OC at Miami...his strength is in recruiting.

We don't need some promote from within bs, we need a proven and experienced OC...and this fits the bill

I feel like Gran is also a lifer at the OC spot. I don't see him trying to jump for a HC position anytime in the future, which means if he does well and we keep him paid, we could have outstanding continuity on offense, moving forward.

If Coach Smart gives up control of the offense, he may be maturing as a HC. He never did it for Chaney.

From what I've heard, Stoops has been putting restrictions on Gran and thats the problem. So Kirby may give him control.

Kentucky was 12th in total offense for the conference, and 104th in total offense nationally.

I don't understand the appeal?

Well, teams that run it and burn clock as a strategy are never going to roll up yards. It's also Kentucky. Their have no real playmakers out wide, and their QB can't pass even if they did.

Apparently he does really good work with RBs. Not that we need special help with ours but he is known for it.

I think given our level of talent and him having full control of the O, we might be impressed.
