Do we even know if Gran actually got an offer from UGA to replace Chandy?
That’d be a quick turn down.
Most people getting an offer they aren’t interested in would at least try to get a raise out of it.

This is what I read from DN and 247
"Here’s what happened: Earlier on Thursday, Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio reported, “Smart has offered Gran total control of the offense and a salary of at least $1.1 million.”
Kirby Smart has reportedly moved quickly when it comes to filling the offensive coordinator position at Georgia. Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio is reporting that the job has been offered to Wildcat offensive coordinator Eddie Gran.
Dawgs247 was never able to confirm that Gran was offered and, in fact, persons with knowledge of the situation said an offer hadn't been extended.
So who TF knows?

It’s gonna end up being Coley and Lapoi. So be it.

Lupoi would be outstanding as DC

Please Lord, I hope he doesnt hire Tosh. I am hoping for Ansley. If its Coley, so be it. I have my reasons on Tosh being a no but I'm still on board with Bobo as OC too.

Bring Bobo back.
Fromm back shoulder fades to Hollomon.

I dont think we will get Bobo. If Colorado was going to fire him wouldn't they have done it by now?

This Eddie Gran shite rubs me the wrong way. Regardless of whether or not we offered it got public and it doesn't have the best optics no matter how you say it.

Don't let it bother you.
Kirby did it to us for a payraise.
I doubt it was a formal offer. But we definitely were interested. Gran's agent was doing his job by making it public.

If it didn’t happen, it makes the AJC and the rest of “our” media look like shite.
Not just like shite, but they will have done harm to UGA.
Fake News, baby.

All OC/DC hires need to be done so as to enhance and not upset the core of Pittman/McGee on offense and Lanning/Schumann on defense.
Granted no one stays forever but the longer we can keep those four the better.
Defensive Coordinator
To me, the perfect fit on defense is Derrick Ansley. We don’t have a stud defensive back coach and I believe Lapoi was more of a LB coach and we have those in spades. Either make him position coach or that plus Co-DC with Lanning. Use the saved money from Chaney to give everyone a bump up on both sides of the ball. Make sure Schumann understands there is still upward mobility for him on our staff at some point in next two years (assuming Lanning or Ansley moves on to HC job by then).
Offensive Coordinator:
Probably the safest move would just be to stay the course with Coley. While he wasn’t a good playcaller at Miami, he should at least be able to replicate Chaney after working with him for three years. If Kirby doesn’t think Coley is staying for long haul, then maybe he brings someone in this year - if there isn’t anyone he is in love with - then just stick in house, bring in a young hotshot as offensive asst. and kick the can to 2020.

Agree on Ansley. As to the Dback coach, wouldn't Champ Bailey be a good fit?

Let’s start a rumor out of thin air about Bobo getting an informal offer and see if we can get fake news dawgnation to run with it. Like they did with Gran boy.

Considering he's never coached or recruited a day in his life, no. I'd be shocked if he even wanted the job. Hire someone much more experienced in coaching.

Because either we offered and got spurned or we didn't offer but had interest and it got leaked and then got spurned. We may not have even been serious about it but it's out there in the ether. I'd rather not have any more news about Georgia missing on anything for a moment

That's true, think it was Kentucky Sports Radio that put it out there but that was after FootballScoop who then immediately said this
quote:quote:
FootballScoop spoke with folks with direct knowledge of the situation and believe it is fair to say Eddie was contacted about a role on the staff at Georgia. Based on our conversations, it seems “offered” is a bit overstated. Sit tight on this one.
KSR & AJC just ran with it. I am sure we had interest, not sure if we offered or not. Who knows where the $1.1M came from.

Pretty much just need a computer program that says: (1) run - if successful, repeat, if not, goto 2; (2) run - if successful, goto 1, if not, goto 3; (3) pass - if successful, goto 1, if not, goto 4; (4) punt.

Whoever we get needs to run more toss sweeps, which we almost never did this past season, and also needs to be willing to throw on first down some. Run, run, pass is too predictable, especially against great defenses.
