New Orleans has tons of issues. However, it is not nearly as bad as those other five cities.

Shreveport is worse than Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge has some nice parts. Shreveport is one big shithole.

My list would be:

1. Memphis, TN...nothing else is even close.

2. Bessimer, AL

3. Jackson, MS

4. St. Louis, MO

5. Monroe, LA

New Orleans has issues but I’d put it in the top 5 best towns in SEC territory before I put it anywhere near the bottom 5.

Little Rock is paradise compared to Pine Bluff.

The Rock isn't even all that bad. Just don't hangout south of University

Jackson has a litany of problems. They don't elect good city officials often and when they do, the State elected officials have no interest in helping them out because they're in the other party.

I spent close to a week in BR for a wedding and it had to be similar to driving through Afghanistan in 2002. Everything that wasn't shitty was under construction. Wedding venue was nice though.

Love me some Memphis though. Lived in Midtown for 2 years and had a fantastic time.

Heading to NO this weekend. There is nowhere else where you get the blend of history, fine dining and character that you get there. It's got plenty of issues...but it isn't anywhere close to the bottom 5. The best meals I've ever eaten were in New Orleans and in Natchez, Mississippi. They will never be considered part of my bottom 5.

Jackson doesn’t even have potable water. Easily #1.
They have some huge infrastructure problems that are being addressed but it has changed since Judge Wingate (Federal) is in charge and they turned it over to a 3rd party. Water is not Jackson's biggest problem. They elected a new Mayor and I really think things will be different from the last couple of mayors. But, it probably too little, too late.

At least Memphis "only" had 184 murders last year. The lowest since before Covid and the 2020 Summer of Love in Peace.

We stayed in Memphis while driving up to the Midwest last Summer. I booked the Westin right across from the FedEx Forum.

We had to go through Metal Detectors twice when crossing Beale Street to go to the Rendezvous for BBQ. The place had a Baghdad Green Zone feel to it for sure.

Right... the general smell, and homeless problem in New Orleans make it a much better city than BR

Nola is quite literally a cesspool.
