re: SECR Power Rankings Vote - Week 11

We have an elite offense if you want to call Auburn's defense elite. The problem is that our QB is the opposite of clutch, and our defense won't let us ever play with a lead.
Not just T&F. We've been past the first round every March for something like the past five years. I may be missing a year, and I don't care to look it up so don't @ me. And this year's basketball team might be our best of that span.

I also don't get depressed about what college kids do. Or pro athletes, for that. I got a family and a job and friends. That's what matters. Sports is for fun. It's weird to take it past that.
The thread question isn't about who would come here. But I understand that reading is hard.
Once I got down to us, State, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, and the Cocks, any semblance of order broke down. It doesn't matter who goes where. It's one big cluster of suck.
I'm not enamored with anyone currently coaching or recently fired in the SEC.

Kirby deserves respect for what he's accomplished, but I don't know if he could do it at a place like Arkansas. Which is ironic because I'd hoped we'd try to get him after we fired Petrino and he was stil DC at Bama.

I don't know how much of Kiffin's success is him and how much is Ole Miss ponying up the NIL. All I know is Lane was not particularly successful before now.

Elko is looking good, but I still need to see more.

Drink is the closest to proven at a place like Arkansas, but he's a fricking dork. Pass.

Those are the guys who would be in the running against the field. Honorable mention Lea, but he was arse before Pavia. Honorable mention DeBoer, but he give Chad Morris vibes. I'm not convinced Washington was anything but fools gold. And Bama tenure is too early.

Edit: You motherfrickers either can't read or don't understand a hypothetical or both. Sad. Go back and read the question that prompted the thread. Write it in crayon if it helps.
I'm pretty sure this story originated with a Memphis troll account.
Brining schools in from the Big 12 was a mistake.
Even if we granted that, the product off the field is far worse.

When did NIL start? Did it start in 2013?

NIL has made most of of that irrelevant. In fact, it may have inverted the benefits of past success because the days of total dominance are probably over, but fans and administrations aren't going to accept that.
Clark Lea had a bad record before he got Diegeaux.

Probably want to make sure he can replicate before you jump on that train.

Bobby would look good in Purple

Well you're not wrong.
Americans are fatter than they used to be. I bet Philly was around the same spot on the spectrum for his time as Elko is today.
I think having rich people is an absolute good. I am not someone who is envious of others' wealth. So don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way

But waste fricking pisses me off. Like, how are you this wealthy if you're willing to blow that much money on what's probably going to be a failed experiment in twenty-year-old-kid-driven vanity projects? It turns the whole concept of wealth as a biproduct of American Protestant work ethic on its head.
I agree. Unfortunately the Canes stans don't agree with us. It gets old being drug there by obsessed friends and family, despite there being plenty of awesome local restaurants around.

I know people who will literally fly in from Montana just to eat at Canes. It's fricking bizarre. But I try not to ruin it for them, so I'm venting on y'all instead.
Canes is nasty beige food for people whose tastes never progressed past six years old.

I provide incredulity. This isn't a court. I don't have to prove my case.

It is unlikely that at top level college football, that every single coach wasn't cheating his arse off where he thought he could get away with it. The stakes are too high.
