1. Baton Rouge, LA
-Not a troll, this place genuinely sucks
2. Memphis, TN
-This is the third world. It's like every day is a battle
3. Montgomery, AL
-Very slept on terrible city. I feel bad for people who even have to drive through here.
4. Jackson, MS
-It's amazing to me that people are born here and decide to continue to live here. MS is getting better as a state, but this city sucks.
5. Little Rock, AR
-If living in Arkansas wasn't bad enough, you have to live in violent Arkansas.
Don't get me wrong, there are other terrible places like Shreveport, LA, and Columbus, GA. However, those are 5 cities that I actually feel bad for people who live there. What are some other nominations for the worst cities in the conference?

We just can't figure out what all these have in common

As a faithful LSU supporter, I concur.

Jackson doesn’t even have potable water. Easily #1.

Eh, Montgomery gets much more of a bad rap than it deserves. Cloverdale is an incredible neighborhood.
And Pike Rd is a beautiful area with great schools/community aura. Of course, there's ghetto areas just like any city in this country.
In 2025, all 45 murder victims in the city were blacks killed by other blacks. No different than any other city in America.

I'll throw in Orangeburg, SC. I think you can find something charming, or at least redeemable, in just about every town in South Carolina, but not Orangeburg. It's just depressing there.
Spartanburg also blows, but at least it is in closer proximity to nicer areas. Orangeburg has nothing around it.

No Birmingham?
How is Jackson, MS not #1?
College Station/Bryan may not be a murder capitol but it's boring as frick.

Should easily be number 1.
Baton Rouge hate is so overplayed. Not my home, but there’s plenty places I’d live in BR.

I am not sure precisely in Texas, but I would guess some place in the Carcinogen Band of Beaumont Port Arthur.
Odessa as well for having all the depressing reality of West Texas without any of the oil money splendor over in Midland.

Pine Bluff, AR is pretty bad.
Also Shreveport has to be worse than BR.
Columbia, SC is no picnic.
KC, MO as well.
Atlanta is not a fun place, but might only be outdone in shittiness by Augusta.

There's a very good case for it to be 1. Hell it might be. I just havent spent as much time there as the other cities.

It really isn't. It's hot, dangerous, has terrible traffic, and has no real redeeming charm. The north of it is a war zone, the South of it is cancer alley, the west of it is that dirty river, and the east is terrible traffic.

BR will always be #1 in this category

So are most other cities in the Deep South—hot weather, terrible traffic, and, like any large city, certain areas you probably want to avoid. Some cities don’t exactly have a lot of redeeming charm either. Baton Rouge seems to get an unnecessary amount of criticism on Tigerdroppings.

I would nominate STL (north side specifically) if Missouri were in the SEC, but alas we are not.
