Will Mizzou recruiting benefit or hurt from Sam announcement?

If a 5 star HS recruit is gay, why not go to a place where you will be accepted openly and not have to hide in the closet?

Could there be some recruits- or parents- that discourage a recruit from considering Mizzou bc of this?

Would another coach "negatively" recruit regarding this?

I don't care if all college football players are gay. I have no idea who is or is not gay in general as I don't require people to disclose this type of info to me.

Sumlin is worried Mizzou will use this to flip recruits.

Not sure if it would hurt or help. I'm still trying to figure out why this was news to begin with. Who honestly gives a shite?

The fact that Mizzou kept it hidden until after signing day tells you what Mizzou thinks it would have done.

More courage from the heartland.

Neither.
It'll be a non-issue.

I would hope it has zero factor other than perhaps Pinkel and his coaches having demonstrated discretion and care for one of their players personal concerns.

I think this gave Pinkel, our coaching staff, and the entire program more credibility. I'm not sure if there will be a tangible benefit on the recruiting trail.

Did you read any of the articles written about this topic, or are you just pontificating for it's own sake? His announcement, and the timing of it, was purely his decision. Mizzou didn't make any announcement. And only commented after he made it public. Mizzou had nothing to do with that. Please stop being ignorant.

As far as how it will impact recruiting, I think it will be positive. They are a family, and respect each other's differences. Respect is a core value of the program. If any coach negative recruits over it, they should be ashamed. What would they have had Mizzou do? Kick him off the team? Allow it to become a divisive locker room issue? No. I'm proud of how Mizzou handled this.

I don't think it will matter much either way. The bottom line is recruits want to go to a school where they can win and hope to get to the NFL.

I really don't think it will matter. Mizzou is getting free national publicity right now though so I guess that will help them in some way.

Mizzu's recruiting is pretty shitty, it can only get better. At this point they are fighting to outrecruit Bret Bielema.
