WW2 is probably not the comparison to use here because that would have been 8 more months of concentration camps and countless wholly innocent, rather than combatant, lives lost.

I’ve done investments with Danny Lovell’s companies. He’s a top notch guy so I bet this is going to turn out great. Good for OU.

It’s time to start bombing the shite out of them again. The constant playing chicken isn’t going to go anywhere and is just giving Iran more time to dig its heels in for more protracted war.

Honestly, I think we wanted them to do this so we have our excuse to glass the IRGC. I’d imagine it’s only a matter of time before us and Israel start wrecking again.

How did you interpret unfreezing their own assets as us giving them money?

It is an interesting development that even the liberals on the court have been writing down at her. She’s been objectively terrible on an unprecedented level.

Pretty telling that we’re running through the IRGC like a hot knife through butter but leaving the nation army guys relatively in-tact. I think there’s some holdout of hope that the national army will assist in a coup of the regime elements. We’ll see how long that lasts.

I don't really understand what gamers expect with consoles. They want top of the line parts, but prices that are literally the exact same as what they were in 20 years ago. You don’t get both. The PS3 20gig (not 60) released for 500. Just inflation puts that price over $800 today. I don’t see how it’s realistic to keep that price point off of basic economics.

People can have issues with causes or secondary effects or the war like oil prices. Those are legitimate or valid concerns that people can, at least realistically, disagree over. However, the suggestion that Iran is “winning” is just asinine. There’s a strike happening on their government, military, or personnel in their capital city every 15 minutes (or less) for the last month. The most damage they’ve done to us is hit a few parked planes. We’re doing this with literally 20% of the fleet in one branch of our military. We’re not even remotely close to capacity of what we can do.
There’s really no way to describe how silly it is to say that Iran is winning.

re: Is it against the law to billboard Judges that allow felons go free?

Not against anything I’m aware of. There’s a wealthy guy in the LC area that has an ac to grind against one of the judges there and has billboards all over the place attacking the judge.

Did you play sports growing up? A team has different opinions, beliefs, and disagreements privately, but a good team/teammate always support(s) each other in front of others even if they disagree with the ultimate direction chosen by the team. It’s teamwork 101 that you don’t publicly dog on your teammates regardless of how you personally feel.

They don’t all have to agree on every decision and it’s a positive thing if they don’t. Adversity breeds excellence; not a bunch of yes men. The only thing that matters is they support each other publicly which seems like they have more or less.

I find it hard to believe that we signed up for a war waged largely by strikes with the expectation it would go on for a week to then run out of defensive ammo in the first 4-5 days

I wouldn’t put a deliberate miss past them. They would be so unbelievably fricked if they touched that carrier. The last time someone sunk one of our boats in combat, we dropped nukes on them…

I did it. Super easy to do and they were much faster than the advertised delays—even around Christmas time. I got one of the new heel shafted ones.

How do people not see the reverse of this happening? Star player plays 9 games and decides he doesn’t think team is going to make the playoffs so he shuts it down to transfer to a perceived contender the next season.

Of the two, Williams would’ve been my preference but I think they’re very similar overall. Leavitt just comes with more injury risk. The Elon transfer looks like he has a lot of potential (definitely has the arm strength), just don’t know if that translates to D1.
No matter what, hard to see how the offense isn’t better considering LSU’s 2025 offense was objectively the worst LSU offense in my ~30 year lifetime. Even worse than some of Miles’ worst work.
re: LSU now a Top 3 portal class..with more to come. Where are the naysayers now?
Posted by Dixie Normus on 1/8/26 at 6:38 am to Gator Fever
A lot of them. LSU’s ‘25 portal class led to 9-10 starters with 7-8 of those being 80% of the bright spots on an otherwise mediocre to bad team.
re: Every American is paying a $1,000-plus corruption tax annually.
Posted by Dixie Normus on 1/6/26 at 7:53 am to The Torch
Some math presented without comment. There were roughly 163m tax returns filed last year. Of those, roughly 60% (97.8m) owed federal income tax over the course of the year. A couple assumptions (a) potential scope of $1b to $16b in losses across federal and state programs, and (b) 75% of the funding was directly from feds or indirectly reimbursed by the feds and the rest from Minn (I’m estimating here because quick google search is unclear). That means the average cost of this to the average non-Minn taxpayer was between $7.66 to $122.70. It’s even higher for Minn taxpayers (roughly $10 to $160). These are a little skewed because some of these were Medicaid programs that even people who didn’t pay federal income taxes did pay into that system via payroll tax.
This is only what’s been uncovered in one state that is middle of the pack in population (22nd with ~5.8m)…. If you just took a proportional number (1:1 in terms of loss per taxpayer) and applied it to California based on population those numbers go up by 6.83x or $52.32 to $838.04 per non-CA taxpayer.
