You ok, moppet?
No hurt feelings.
Just checkin’ in.
How’s it goin’, mates!
What’s new (Facilities? Azaleas? Bars? Fraternity houses? Grass/turf seeds)?
Good stuff on the hoops front, amirite? Auburn, Alabama, Florida, & Tennessee … y’all keep feasting, lads.
Baseball—the greatest time of the year—is finally upon us.
FB recruiting and spring training is marinating. I’m trying to keep expectations in check. But I continue to hold unrealistic expectations.
Be blessed, friends.

$Billions being invested into the homeland is a huge win—there’s no other way to parse it (to say nothing of the fact it’s treasure not being sent to Ukraine).
AI is not going anywhere. It quite literally is the future.
The assembled brain trust at this presser is impressive.
I thought Trump’s use of the phrase golden age yesterday was hyperbolic fluff.
I should’ve known better; he meant it.

From OpenAI
quote:
Announcing The Stargate Project
The Stargate Project is a new company which intends to invest $500 billion over the next four years building new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States. We will begin deploying $100 billion immediately. This infrastructure will secure American leadership in AI, create hundreds of thousands of American jobs, and generate massive economic benefit for the entire world. This project will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies.
The initial equity funders in Stargate are SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. SoftBank and OpenAI are the lead partners for Stargate, with SoftBank having financial responsibility and OpenAI having operational responsibility. Masayoshi Son will be the chairman.
Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI are the key initial technology partners. The buildout is currently underway, starting in Texas, and we are evaluating potential sites across the country for more campuses as we finalize definitive agreements.
As part of Stargate, Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will closely collaborate to build and operate this computing system. This builds on a deep collaboration between OpenAI and NVIDIA going back to 2016 and a newer partnership between OpenAI and Oracle.
This also builds on the existing OpenAI partnership with Microsoft. OpenAI will continue to increase its consumption of Azure as OpenAI continues its work with Microsoft with this additional compute to train leading models and deliver great products and services.
All of us look forward to continuing to build and develop AI—and in particular AGI—for the benefit of all of humanity. We believe that this new step is critical on the path, and will enable creative people to figure out how to use AI to elevate humanity.

The Stargate program will invest at least $500B in AI infrastructure, including colossal data structures in Abilene, Texas.

Little brother, OSU, is acting up just like aTm did when Aggies moved to SEC and refused to played Texas.
Wrong.
ESPN
quote:
Texas A&M has been outspoken about a sort of anywhere, anytime, anyplace attitude toward resuming the rivalry, but Texas, who won the final game in 2011 on a last-second field goal, is taking a rather arrogant approach to when the next game will happen.
Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds, From the Daily Texan (my emphasis added):
quote:
“They left,” Dodds said. “They're the ones that decided not to play us. We get to decide when we play again. I think that's fair. If you did a survey of our fans about playing A&M, they don't want to. It's overwhelming. I know. I hear it. Our fans are important to us. I think there's got to be a period where things get different. I think there's too many hard feelings.”
Hey-oh! Dodds is in a power position here and doesn't sound like he has many plans to let anyone forget that. As for why this game isn't being played, it depends on who you listen to. There's merit to both sides, and it's a perfect situation in which either side feels completely comfortable blaming the other.
Texas warned A&M when it was considering a move to the SEC: "Leave and this rivalry is over."

Between this matter and the piles of Diddy accusers he’s representing, Buzbee has some very lucrative years ahead of him.

Depends whom you ask.
Traditionally, absolutely.
I fall into this camp.
But television, money, and viewership has entered the chat to the degree that it’s affected the current arrangement.
In particular, it became a numbers game/ratings competition with the NFL.
As I understand it, UTex’s AD, Chris Del Conte, wants it back on Thanksgiving; while A&M’s AD, Trev Alberts, has gone on record that he’s not interested in a TG-day kick this year but is open to it in the future.

Not really.
Lone Star Showdown was trademarked back in 1996.
But that’s just a manufactured moniker created by commercial entities.
It’s pretty much always been Ags vs Horns.
Or the Thanksgiving game.
Or Texas-Texas A&M.

Yes.
And if we have an extraordinarily weak conference schedule those years and are ranked at the top of the polls, I fully expect us to receive [deserved] condemnation.
2025 - Notre Dame
2026-26 - Arizona State
2028-29 - Louisville

The out of conference schedule has never been an issue.
That’s fair.
Most of the criticism UTex has drawn this year is from their shockingly unprecedented conference draw and the horns’ subsequent rankings.
The frustration isn’t necessarily directed at the horns but at the situation; that’s on the SEC.

That’s always the risk of scheduling several years out; not much anyone can do about it.
But voters and the media (and fans) will likely be far more impressed by a team like the Irish than by the likes of UTSA or ULM (no offense intended to Roadrunners and Warhawks fans).

That’s a solid move by the AD.
Regardless of how ND actually performs on the field in ‘28 & ‘29, they’ll forever be perceived as a formidable opponent. Given the SOS flak the horns are currently catching, having ND on the agenda will likely improve their credibility.
And fans from UTex will certainly be happy with it.
Good for the horns.
