It's pretty sissified. If there is the slightest chance of a whistle, player on Team A goes down writhing in agony. Player on Team B sees this and then decides he, too, must go down writhing in agony. All of the teammates gather around the fallen players giving encouragement and hoping they continue to draw breath.

Meanwhile the 'horribly injured' player keeps a side-eye on the refs waiting to see if they're buying their bullish*t. Whether they buy into the bullish*t or not, once the play resumes, either with a foul or not, the 'horribly injured' players leap up to resume the match.

It is every game and it seems to happen on every play where someone might have touched someone else.

Heck, in the first U.S. game, a player from Paraguay wasn't touched and went down like he had been shot, acting like every nerve was on fire and he would never walk again. U.S. player got a yellow card. They then went to video review, saw that the player from Paraguay had not been touched, and gave the yellow card to him instead.

So maybe there is hope? :dunno:
