The longevity of Tennessee's slide into mediocrity has been surprising. It reminds me of LSU's slide in the late '80s and early '90s, when it hit a historical low with eight losing seasons in 11 years. It took the GOAT coach to straighten things out.

For Arkansas, the speed and depth of the Razorbacks' decline has been a surprise, but the SEC West is an absolute meat-grinder these days. It takes a national championship caliber team to have a shot at winning the division.

I was more surprised by Arky's rise under petrino if we're being honest.

One of these is not like the other

We laugh at Tennessee now but those baws used to know how to win football games and SEC titles

Hogs used to feast on Rice, Tech, and TCU. Not impressive. And after 1970, Texas was a far cry from Bama

Tennessee - not a "blue blood"

How old are you? 20? You might want to do a little research. Tennessee football from when Moses wore short pants until the mid 2000's was as blue blood as you can get.

Tennessee Football=Arkansas Basketball.

Great in 90s. Unexplainably shitty since 2000.

It shouldn't be. Nutt underachieved.

Fun fact:

Tennessee football is a combined 33-15 all time vs LSU and Arkansas.

Roughly half of both LSU's all time wins (5) and Arkansas's all time wins (3) have come against Tenner during their lowest point in history. Or roughly the past 15 years. It's the equivalent of making fun of LSU during the 80s and 90s or Arkansas since inception.

This sounds like a dumb question from a young kid.

I have a question: Why is Arkansas so popular on an internet message board? Talk about something else other than Arkansas!

Tennessee is more blue blood than LSU..

I don’t think that’s a valid assertion any longer. LSU has more AP, UPI, BCS and CFP titles than Tennessee. The Vols haven’t been serious contenders for a National Championship since 2001, when they were defeated by LSU for the SEC title.

One has as much claim as the other.

When you look at some of his Arkansas teams and the Ole Miss team that he had handed to him on a silver platter you can make a very strong argument for that.

Nutt's teams, during the best of seasons, tended to get really fired up for one or two games. Which is nice. But the trade off was they would come out flatter than a plate full of piss three or four games a year.

Yeah, I’m not fan of the Vols but even with the last decade+ of mediocre to bad football I think they’re still top 10 in all time wins.

Q- When did Bama hire Saban?
A - 2007 -

Q - when did Tennessee fire Fulmer?
A - 2008

Saban throat punched Fat Phil and never looked back. Bama is 13-0 vs. Tennessee since Saban.

BVD,

Nuh uh don't think the Vols will be back. It will be the same thing like last year and the last, believe me.

900+ win teams
Michigan, OSU,ND, Bama, OU, Texas, Neb
800+ win teams
PSU, UT, LSU, SC, UGA

UTs fall has been surprising. They have a helluva tradition and program.
