Whose decline surprised you more, Arkansas or Tennessee?

Neither would really be considered a "blue blood" I guess but Arkansas was pretty awesome before about 1990, and respectable until ~2017; Tennessee was historically the SEC's second best program (and I think you'd have to say the SEC>the SWC) so they had a higher ceiling more recently, but they've had a more sustained low than Ark, not even a 10 win season since 2007.

I have been very surprised at Tennessee not being able to return to their prior success.
The Kiffin crap really hurt them.
Both teams have self inflicted wounds from bad coaching hires.
But Tennessee is the biggest surprise for me,for a long time now.

The long decline of Tennessee is what has surprised me. Hard to believe it’s two decades.
I consider UT to be a blue blood. Historically they’ve been in the mix year in and year out. The 2 decade long stagnation is troubling. Their fanbase deserves better.

Considering how bad Nebraska has been, Tennessee probably could have lapped them in the top eight by now If they had been even decent since 2007

Tennessee but I believe they will rise up soon.

This is actually no longer true. LSU leads Tennessee in most historical metrics at this point.

Arkansas was elite before about 1990. The SWC was an inferior conference to the SEC, but it had Texas who was up there with Bama as far as nationally dominant programs

1969 Texas vs Arkansas was called the game of the century. Ask any boomer, he'll tell you that he watched it

I mean SEC was usually better, but it wasn't the monster it is today. You don't think there was more national parity until about 2004 ?

Nah,maybe in the mix from the 30's to the 50's,not
so much in the 60's,70's and 80's but they did have some good teams and not the disaster of the last 15 years

Since Missouri joined the conference Arkansas and Tennessee were hit hard in football!
