And the west is about to add Texas and OU (in some fashion pending alignment).

OU is going to have a really good program as long as that coaching staff is there.

Lulz. College baseball is measured in CWS appearances and titles. Bama is dead last followed by Auburn. Arkansas is a clear 4th and it is not even close.

Why would Arkansas be any worse than 2nd? I get it's a troll attempt thread, just not sure why.

Because there are 4 teams in the west who have won a national championship in baseball, and Arkansas is not one of them. It’s not rocket science

ETA: 3, not 4. Could have sworn Bama had one

msu is 1x NC, 1x runner-up and 12 CWS appearances
om is 1x NC, and 6 CWS appearances
arkansas is 2x runner-up and 11 CWS appearances
alabama is 2x runner-up and 6 CWS appearances
aTm has 7 CWS appearances
auburn has 6 CWS appearances

that is the order as it stands. dont get mad...thats just the order of things. om proved you can dart up the rankings with a magical run.

if butch wins a natty, that would vault auburn to 3rd. these are pretty objective parameters. for perspective, ole miss was dead last heading into this season.

In terms of Consistency, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Miss state have been pretty damn good. Auburn and A&M have improved and are good too. Bama is lost right now.
Those 6 teams are likely all top 20 college baseball programs.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Ole Miss is better than Arkansas because they won the big one. Van Horn made Arkansas pretty much a tournament shoe in and national seed candidate or selection pretty much every year since 2009. He probably got them to Omaha 6 or 7 Times as well. In terms of sustainability, Arkansas has been great. I know though, obviously have not won the big one.

You would think that DVH is itching to win it after that foul ball wasn't in his control. I remember when camera was on the three players and as soon as the ball dropped, the camera quickly pointed over to DVH and I read his lips and I think he said shite.

If I had to rank them overall I’d say

LSU
State
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Auburn
A&M
Bama

Historically, LSU and State are probably by themselves. If you had to rate the programs right now in terms of attractiveness to coaches and recruits, I'm not sure much differentiates LSU, State, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. All have top notch facilities and a lot of recent success. I would include Vandy and Florida with those as well if you talk about the entire SEC.

Funny thing is, UGA was the first SEC team to win a CWS title. How did they just disappear?

Alabama is the only program that’s not in top ten right now. Next year’s national Championship could come from any team in SEC West, but bama and half of the East

LSU baseball is losing its elite status.

If you look at the last decade would they be #1? I don’t think so.

After a down period immediately following 1990, they rose back up in the early 2000's.

CWS appearances in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Along with 1987 and 1990 they have 6 total.

They were also CWS runner ups in 2008 when Fresno State upset them.

In the last decade, 2012 to now. We have been to Omaha 3 times and have a runner up finish in 2017. I'd say since 2017 we have dipped some. This also happened from 2005-2007.

We have a brand new coach and a great recruiting class coming in. I believe it is ranked #1 by many. We also just got 2 really huge transfers including the freshmen leader in home runs.

Stay tuned.

In a historical sense, I think Auburn at #7 is fair. In a current program situation, I think #5 or #6 is correct. 11.7 hammers us and Bama more than the rest of the division.
