The college team with the greatest running backs ever is actually Syracuse:
Jim Brown
Larry Csonka
Floyd Little
Ernie Davis
Joe Morris
No team has had a better 5 running backs than those listed above. Nobody

Hardly any mention of Wisconsin in here?

They do hold the record for most Doak Walker award winners with 5:

Ron Dayne
Montee Ball
Melvin Gordon
Jonathan Taylor (2X)

Auburn was once RBU, but you kept Gus too long and you lost your spot on the pedestal.

For 3 straight yrs ('18-'20) Auburn didn't log a 1,000 yd rusher, which is very out of the ordinary for AU. Even though you finished with a losing season in '21 for the first time in a decade, Tank did get 1,099 yds rushing so maybe things will get back to normal.

Don't know.
Don't care.
Not sure why people thinks it matters.

(Not you necessarily so much as some on here arguing about it)

Some teams still play the game without the massive payroll given ALL OF THIS LIST...

They didn't get snubbed. They got beat down by a far better Texas team and would have lost the same way to either Miami or Neb that year.

I was at that bowl game. All we heard pregame was how great this Dane guy was. Turned out he was as slow and fat as his teammates. Wasn’t much of a game.

The Arkansas list should include Dickey Morton and Fred Talley.

Not sure if it is Auburn, but how do you not mention having William Andrews, Joe Cribbs, and James Brooks at the same time? That's 3 really good NFL starters.

Those are good, but only Jim Brown is in the same class as Marcus Allen, OJ Simpson, Charles White, and Reggie Bush.

Terrell Davis is better than any RB on that list btw.

Based on college performance?

1,919 career rushing yards in 4 years, with one year played at Long Beach State. His best year was 824 rushing yards. Which RB on which list was he better than?

The sad thing is talent at RB wasn't the problem. We had some very talented backs during his tenure.

Gus either couldn't or wouldn't recruit linemen. His scheme was very good for the running game when it was on. Just didn't have the beef.

RBs going back to his offensive coordinator days:

Ben Tate and Onterio McCalebb( both spent time in the league, McCalebb at a different position)

Mike Dyer Onterrio McCalebb (Dyer talented but a headcase)

Tre Mason and Corey Grant (both spent time in the league)

Cameron Artis-Payne and Corey Grant (both spent time in the league)

Peyton Barber and Jovon Robinson (Peyton was nothing to write home about stat wise but has carved out a solid NFL career, Robinson was another talented headcase)

Kam Pettway and Kerryon Johnson (Kam left too early and Kerryon was Kerryon)

Boobie Whitlow and Kam Martin (Boobie was good enough to be a 1000 yard rusher in this league, but this is when the line problems started manifesting)

Tank and Shivers (Tank will be in the league barring injury or trouble)
